Jamie Baker is top seed in qualies!

Should be a cakewalk until final round when Bester, King or Mamiit would provide a stiffer test.

Rumours that Boggo is still injured and may not play main draw.

Bloomers chances of playing these qualies no doubt scuppered by still being in Binghampton doubles. (Though he could do a Tsonga at Surbs/Queens couldn't he?)

Boggo hasn't pulled out yet and is named as 8th seed in the draw.

R1 drawn against WC Lipsky, who he should have enough to beat, and who clearly didn't get a doubles wildcard for Cincinatti.

Jamie Bakers possible opponents if he qualifies are, Sluiter cry.gif Carlsen, Kim or Wessels. None of them easy draws but Sluiter would be the worst imo.

havent heard anything either way. I suspest he will play. he can always pull out if its not right, but witt the usoq next week i think he will want to try and get at least a match or 2 under hsi belt.

Wessels is a good draw for a qualifier, hopefully Jamie can make the most of it.

Boggo should be able to beat Lipsky provided he's no longer injured.

Good luck to Hutch in the doubles as well.

An interesting day in the Bronx yesterday. Top seed, second seed, 6th seed all lost in R1.

4th seed Capdeville withdrew in Boggo's section.

Form-man and dangerous floater Darcis lost in Boggo's half. So two of Boggo's bogeys (Capdeville and Haase) both leave his section. I really hope he's fit enough to capitalise...


This draw has really opened pu for someone - pray.gif that that someone is British!


Challengers are so strong. Darcis/Haase/Vasselin have been on fire but step back to challengers and get burned.

Darcis has always been a clay court specialist, so it wasn't a real surprise to see him lose, and RV seems to only play well at Grand Slams and has picked up a lot of points from them

Haase loosing to Echargy though came from nowhere, and doesn't make a lot of sense after seeing his recent form.

Still, all this is great news for the Brits, and there is a very good chance that one of them could have a great run here

Baker has a toughish first match against Wessels because he has a very strong serve, but a QF place is beckoning if he can get past him

Boggo, if fit, should really be looking at a final spot here, as his draw has really opened up. There is no-one in the bottom quarter than should worry him, so if he gets to the semis, then he should make the final. Lipsksy isn't much of a singles player at all, so he should win that one. Zverev is probably the biggest threat in the QF's, but he beat him last year so knows that he can play him

A Boggo/Baker final would be great, but is a long way away at the moment

i wouldnt put too much hope on boggo, he has told me this morning that his back is getting better but its still not 100%,

if its not right it makes life difficult as i guess it really effects your serve.

hopefully JB can make some progress here, find his form in amreica that he had earlier this year.
