Mel South makes the doubles cut with Neha Uberoi of USA. Not the best of draws though

R1

South/Uberoi vs Parra-Santonja/Martinez-Sanchez (2)

Bad results there. Mel was to be expected. She seems to be able to push these top junior but not all the way.

Naomis loss is poor. Since Eastbourne Naomis been a little dissapointing. Maybe the Hingis loss hurt her more than we thought?

For some reason Naomi was a lucky loser in the main draw and faced another lucky loser, Parra-Santoja of Spain.... I guess most of the other potential lucky losers had left or were already in the draw? seems like there were lots of withdrawls. Anyway it was an awful day at the office for Naomi as she was dismissed 6-0, 6-1! Parra-Santoja is a former top 50 player and probably has a crafty and frustrating game....shame Naomi couldn't take advantage of this opportunity.

In doubles...

(2) Martinez-Sanchez/Parra-Santoja def. South/Uberoi 6-2, 2-6, 6-3

Tight loss fer Mel and Neha...cry.gif

I'm really not a fan of Arantxa Parra-Santoja at the moment.

all seems a little out of character for Naomi.

that seems really out of character for Naomi, hope she's OK and it was just an off day.
