Goodo, Bloomers and Im clap.gif I think Jamie B's result is very creditable against a player ranked around 163. 4-6 6-7 looks pretty damn close to me.smile

Report of Jamie Bakers 1st round match:-
Noam Okun held off Jamie Baker to advance. Baker got break points in the 2nd and 8th game of the 2nd set, but needed 3 errors from Okun in the 10th game to convert the break and even the set. In the tiebreak, Okun got out to a 4-1 lead, but the critical point was an errant return of a 2nd serve from Baker after a correction for 5-1. Okun hit an ace and then a volley that tipped the net and dropped over for the win.
Okun def Baker, 6-4, 7-6(3)

N
o match for Richard and Im on Thursday as their semi-final opponents play off.

I saw that on the front page of the Binghamton site, but I rather liked the quiet compliment in the last two sentences of the next paragraph:

Lots of professionalism displayed in the 1st singles matches today... Okun/Baker/Johansson/Jenkins... focused, not complaining much, and making you aware they were trying their best.

That's a nice little compliment to the players there, though no surprise on Baker's side, he's always seemed like that. smile.gif

I think his result could've been a lot worse, it wasn't a nice first round draw. Good to hear from Craig that Jamie feels like he's playing well. I hope he manages to work through this problem with the big points but I have every faith in him. Jamie has never seemed like an explosive talent (a Murray for example) but he certainly comes across as one of the hardest workers we've got out there so I believe he'll rise up the rankings slowly but surely. That's my hope anyway. smile.gif

Good to see Bloomers doing well in doubles, shame he was unable to do the same in the singles he needs to get some wins under his belt again, hopefully next week is when it happens. please.gif

And those opponents will be the Yankee fourth seeds, Brendan Evans & Brian Wilson, who saw off David Guez & Lukas Rosol quite comfortably, 3 & 1. hmm  Not an easy task in propect for Bloomers & partner on Court 1 at 16.00 our time tomorrow...

As I said the first time I posted on here in February, Baker, Goodall, Hutchins and J.Murray were probably the nicest group of kids/players we had at our tourney this year.  I got to take Josh and Ross to their hotel one day and had a great conversation with them.  Baker and I have developed a good relationship over the last few months and I really do believe because of his work ethic and drive, he'll bust into the top 100 within the next couple of years.  I think you should be very proud of the young players you guys have coming up.

Good news from Binghamton:

Doubles semifinals -

Richard Bloomfield and Korean partner Kyu Tae Im, playing in the Binghamton challenger, near New York, defeated the tournament fourth seeds Americans Brendan Evans and Brian Wilson to secure a place in Saturday's final opponents yet to be decided.

You beat me to it, mjd!  I was so fed up of seeing no recent update on the Binghamton site that I decided to have a look at Bloomers' own.  That says that they won, but does not give the score.  Whoever their opponents are, they will likewise be unseeded:  the other SF's between the Americans, Scott Oudsema & Ryan Sweeting, who put out the third seeds, Briaud & Warburg, in the first round & yet another American, Alex Bogomolov, & that scourge of the Brits, Noam Okun, who put out the second seeds Brzezicki (ARG) & Crugnola (ITA), in the second round!  The doubles final is after the singles on Sunday, weather permitting...! pray.gif

So once again Bloomers meets Sweeting (who took him out of singles in rd 1).
Time for revenge Richard! furious
