I saw that too. But Kasiri was on the entry list the day before and would have been seeded above Rushby who became 9th seed, so he must have withdrawn at the 11th hour. Brewer, Miotto and 1 other can't all gave got the cleared SE's so Hemmes and Kasiri created 2 spaces imo
Bad news only 1 quarter finalist. Rushby, despite being bagelled first set.
Things went a bit better in the doubles, though that was a foregone conclusion, given that there was Brit interest on both sides of the net in three of the four QFs:
A shame that we had to lose so many players in the second round. So often that seems to be the case. However, some good efforts from some of the younger lads Rice in particular did well against someone around the 300 mark.
Is Rushby seeded? If so what's his seeding? I confess to not knowing much about him, age, prospects or anything really, can someone enlighten me please. Am I correct in assuming he plays Groth next? I hope he manages to win that.
The doubles as always has been better viewing. Why do people think that is? Is it the fact that doubles has less pressure attached to it (two players to share the load kind of thing)? If so that's something the lta need to address with the exciting juniors coming through, we want them to have their best results in singles not doubles. (Am I being overly harsh in my assesment of the situation? Feel free to correct me!)
