19 players in the Main Draw - we have to get some decent points out of this one!!

As far as the qualifiers are concerned, we had 7 out of 8:  is that some kind of record?

Last time we had 8 out 8 qualifiers was Sept 2006 at Nottingham GB13. (Brassington, Illingworth, Greenland, Lowe, Connolly, Taylor, Brewer & Burn).

But, I think this is more impressive as there were only 3 non-Brits then.  There were loads of non-Brits in this draw.

Its just a pity that Kasiri withdrew, freeing up the LL space. Not a pity for THornley but Kasiri could possibly have won this title.

Some great draws for the Brits there, and hopefully one that Slabba can finally win!

Today's updates from Merv:

Smeets def. Miotto 6-2 6-4 cry.gif
Ian Flanagan 7-5 0-0 Chris Eaton
Alex Slabinsky 6-3 (possibly 6-4) David Brewer
Ed Corrie 3-3 Groth
Matt Smith 5-1 Richard Irwin

Correction: Flanagan won the first set, not Eaton.

- no extra points for qualifying - just practice on the courts and tiredness in the limbs
