Week 32 Challenger (M) Istanbul, Turkey, 100000

Lee's first match is not before 2pm in Istanbul. Two others have to play to win the right to face him!

This tournament is on hard courts.

The website hasn't really got going yet. Still last years info but hopefully it will provide us with the live scores it advertises in the main draw and maybe even later today if we're lucky.

Very good chance for Lee to qualify here, as there is no-one in his section that he shouldn't be able to beat

If he qualifies he will play 1 of Schuettler, Sela, Kubot or Menendez, so it will be tough for him to go much further this week

EDIT: Just had a look at the draw for the Uzbeki challenger this week, and would have loved Lee to have tried and qualified there instead. He would have been top seed in qualifying, and would have cruised into the main draw. When the 6th seed has 1 ranking point, you know the quality of the draw isn't very high, so very disappointing not to see a few Brits go out there and qualify and get an easy 2 points

Yeah, but it is on clay! eyepopping.gif  Not an obvious target venue for Brits who aspire to an extended run in a tournament... hmm

Isn't there 3 points for qualifying here though? It doesn't matter if you're seeded 1, 2, 3 or 4 in qualies as you all get drawn away from each other.

Didn't actually spot that, which probably explains why the Brits aren't here

Still, James Ward would have been the 4th seed, and so would have Myles Blake if they had come here, so those two would have had a chance (Morgan would have been top seed, and would have cruised into the main draw)

Well done, Lee.

He has played some good tennis in the last few months, just when things started to look really bad for him. Here's hoping for a top 300 finish by the end of the year.
