In the main draw, James Ward appears as wild card, and is the 5th seed

(5) James Ward (GBR) vs. Javier Ramos-Martinez (SPA)

Ramos-Martinez is ranked 905 in the world, but did reach a final in Serbia last month. However, he's lost 4 of his 5 matches since then, including 3 first round losses in qualifying

Great chance for James to get to round 2

Hope Barlow isn't injured. He was originally 8th seed in qualies but pulled out before play began.

Nice to see Wardy getting a seeding. Hopefully that will give him the confidence to justify his seeding and get some wins under his belt again!

However good news for James. He won 6-4 6-3!!!

He now plays Alonso-Campos (no. 964). Even better news is 3rd seed in his quarter got knocked out so could be a semi-final appearance on cards

Gutted. I thought you were posting Wards R2 results, but you just repeated his R1 result. He played early Monday for some reason. Nevertheless, I still hope for some preogress.

Has had problems with Perez-Perez in the past I tihnk...
