3 Sarah Coles 5 Anna Fitzpatrick 10 Jade Curtis 11 Rebecca Fong
Really good chance for all 4 of them to pick up some pts. Sarah, Anna and Jade will all be serious challengers for the title though Jade won't have much chance to recover from the jetlag, it's lucky that Frinton has finished on a Saturday. The top seed is ranked 300 and so her and no 2 seed Veselinovic look like the biggest challengers to a British winner here
Cat Stewart wualified for this tournament and was drawn against fellow qualifier J Tomasovic. Good news as well: C Stewart bt J Tomasovic (CAN) 6-4 6-1
But...... R Fong lost to Y Motyl (q) 4-6 6-1 5-7
Bad result there for Becca.
Other draws are: A Fitzpatrick vrs S Khubibulina (BLR) UNR S Coles vrs A Lepore (5) (ARG)
No Jade but lots of LL so guessing Jade one of those that pulled out
I'm glad that Jade withdrew. She has already played eight tournaments (between May and now), so she'll have to take a few months off from tennis unless she saves up immediately.
Mustn't have been able to get a flight in time....how many tournaments has Jade got left this year ? I thought they only count if she actually gains ranking pts in them
I think she'll be playing a series of challenger qualies now in Canada...
Great stuff for Cat Stewart, her first pts....needs to do the same in two more tourneys now to get a ranking. She's got 8th seed in rd2, who won 6-0, 6-0 in rd1
Poor stuff from Becki, that was a great draw...hasn't won a main draw match since beginning of June...she's got a couple more tourneys out here I think and then returning home
Nice draw for Fitz, she faces unranked Belarussian 14 year old Sasha Khabibulina. It shouldn't be too testing for Anna. Emily Webley-Smith beat Khabibulina twice in May, losing just 4 games over the two matches. Anna's seeded to meet Veselinovic in semis
Sarah Coles has a much harder encounter with the Argentinian 5th seed Agustina Lepore (who's 18 and ranked 513). Lepore competes a lot on clay and won two 10Ks on the dirt in the spring. Last week, she came very close to making the quarters of the Hamilton challenger.

She has played in and got ranking points in seven tournaments between her birthday and now. So she'll be able to play just eleven more between now and May (I think).
Anna continues to cruise with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Canadian wildcard Stephanie Roy to reach the quarters !
Looking very much like an all Monte Carlo academy semi-final...with Fitzy v Veselinovic....the Serb teenager was also extremely impressive, winning 6-1, 6-2 today
Don't know about Sarah Coles yet but I'd be very surprised if she doesn't make the quarters too after that fantastic rd1 win yesterday. Great to see her getting some form back after a miserable year so far...she's easily capable of getting back in the top 400 and higher.
Sarah plays a 15 year old unranked wildcard, Katerina Paliivets later tonight. Pallivets beat an unranked qualifier in rd1. If Sarah wins she'll play Veselinovic in the quarters.
