Boys ITF Rankings

Sat down with Willis and Pauffley today and we worked out that they are 61 and 62 respectively in the 1990 age group, so with the 1989 drop out on the 31st Dec, they will rise to this ranking if they stay where they are and do not improve or go down, although they will go up before then!! Also we will have Evans, Cox, in 100 and possibly Matt James, Tom Kinghts, Lewy Barnes, Nial Angus and Dan Smethurst all pushing for top 100 come january, all are pretty realistic top 100 players and all within touching distance, thats 9 players in the top 100.....got to be close to a record....? Bring on 2008!!!

We should have Evans, Cox, Pauffley, Willis and James. And at least two of the others you mention. Plus it's possible that one or two of our 1991/1992 boys will get a direct entry into next year's USO.

How different it will be to 2006, when not a single boy played a Slam based on direct entry and Corrie and Cox were the only ones to win a Slam round all year!

How much are these boys' rankings affected by the fact that they play on the senior tour as well? Would they be higher if they played just juniors? (I'm not suggesting that would be a good idea!)

Do most of the older juniors (of all nations) play a lot of senior tournaments as well?

In my experience I will only encourage juniors to play futures & seniors events, if they are winning on a consistent basis in the junior events they play. It is tough for any junior to win matches at senior tour level. Generally you will see the more sucessful juniors playing more futures & then dropping back down to junior events if the have suffered a few losses, this can be to gain more confidence or match practise.
