Colin had completed 2 years of an honours degree in economics and finance at Stirling before he went on the tour in 2005. In September 2006, Stirling told him that if he didn't return to uni in October to complete the final year, he wouldn't be able to finish the degree. It was a really tough decision as he was top 200 in doubles and top 400 in singles at the time but he went back to uni. Now he's graduated I'm not entirely sure of his plans, from what I heard earlier in the year, he wasn't planning to return to the tour but looking for a job in finance.
Maybe things have changed, have you heard for definate that he's playing some futures this summer goldenslam ? I would have thought that if he'd been returning to the tour he'd have played the Scottish Open in May and Wimbledon wildcard playoff in June at least.
If he's just graduated Sheddie then May and June would've been smack in the middle of his finals, there's no way he'd have been able to play and/or get himself ready in time.
I'd like to see him come back, and hopefully find himself a new doubles partner as well but we'll have to wait and see what he decides to do.

Doesn't that vary for different unis though ? I know York and Oxbridge's terms go on to the end of June (which I guess is great for extra revision time but very bad for tennis fans ) but I have a friend who's just graduated from Lancaster in journalism and he finished at the beginning of May
Yeah he definately had the potential to be top 50 doubles, he must be a bit gutted seeing how well Jamie's done in the past yr, he could have been there too.
It does vary from uni to uni but even if he'd finished at the beginning of May surely he wouldn't have been able to get into shape in time given that I highly doubt anyone taking finals would be putting in the 4-6 hours a day practise and fitness work that seems to be the norm on tour.
