Week 29 (m) Armenia F1 futures 15K

Round 1

(7) Edward Seator wr 947 v Guy Kubi wr 1383

Ross Connolly wr 1034 v Peter Clarke wr 956

Quite a good chance to get some good points here because it is a very week field for a 15k.

Anyone with a ranking would have made the cut here, so this is a very week field

Ed should be looking at QF spot here, as in the next round he either has a qualifier with 1 point or an unranked Armenian.

Liitle bit tougher for Ross, but he could win a round or so here, and gain some more ranking points

Ross and Ed also team up in the doubles draw as well

Connelly/Seator (GBR) vs. Radu Albot/Andrie Ciumac (MDA)

I think it'll be interesting to see how the Irish do here.

The top 3 seeds in qualifying were Irish. And they all came through easily.

Peter Clarke, James Cluskey & James McGee.

Great opportunity for Seator to pick up some pts. Like Myles Blake, he really does pick these tourneys well and has been pretty consistent in winning rd1 matches in these weaker futures.

He's likely to play McGee in rd2, tough match as although the Irishman has only got 1 pt he's much better than that, would be a lot higher if he had the resources to get to more tourneys. In the Dublin challenger he pushed Alun Jones (who's top 200) really close, going down 7-5, 6-4.

I doubt that Connolly will beat Clarke who used to be top 250 and won a round in Dublin 2 weeks ago

Ross Connolly lost his first round match against Peter Clarke 6-3 5-7 6-4

Ed Seator plays Ireland's James McGee in Round 2 (all three Irish qualifiers made it through to Round 2)

Ross did really well to get a set off Clarke....

as I posted above, I doubt Seator will beat McGee but hopefully I'm wrong

Wow - some good news this week

R2
Ed Seator def James McGee 6-4 6-4

QF
Ed Seator def Sergei Yaroshenko 6-2 6-7(3) 6-4

He does, however, have to face the Number 1 seed Mikhail Elgin of Russia in the semi final

(The other semi final is an all Irish affair between Clarke and Clusky

Ed retired from his semi at 3-0 down in the firstcry.gif

Hopefully he's ok as this was a good week for him (first ever Futures semi?)
