RE: Week 29 - Los Angeles ATP

your right Jamie has retired from singles to concentrate on dubs & Ross Hutchins has also retired from singles due to a sweat disorder, he is unable to last a full singles match due to sweating loads & then suffers dehydration & cramp, hence why he wasn't involved in LA or any Wimbledon qualies or wild card play offs.

Looks like its just doubles for James this week, he's broken again and Nishikori is serving for it at 6-0, 5-2 cry.gif

This result was kinda expected though, Nishikori is only 17 and has stormed up the rankings to 395. He's already made a challenger final this year plus a futures final. One to watch for the future definately

Aucks is broken and Nishi will serve for match at *5-2

15-0

30-0

30-15

40-15

Nishi wints 6-0 6-2

Not unexpected. James doesn't play much singles anymore but it would have been nice for him to pick up 5 points to keep his ranking ticking over.

Nishikori is a great player in the making, though. He says that he wants to make the USO qualies cut.

Yeah, I mean he's way ahead of what Thiemo De Bakker (2006 junior champ) had achieved on the mens tour at the same age...might be still ahead of De Bakker

Making the USO qualies cut is some aim given that it's only a few weeks away and he needs to gain around 150 places laughing.gif He'll need to make the latter stages here !

Thanks for the info on Ross Hutchins, Goldenslam, I was wondering why he hadn't played any singles for quite a while. It's really unlucky that he had that disorder as on fast surfaces he could be a handful for top 300 guys, I remember he had a great win at Manchester last year. Guess that his future was always gonna lie in doubles though, I watched him and Josh play at Wimbledon and they will surely make top 75 at least.

I heard a story several years ago about just how serious that sweat disorder is...it nearly killed him. I think Ross was playing a series of tournaments in India and after one match in extreme heat he'd lost so much fluid that he collapsed in the shower and blacked out. Luckily his friend David Brewer found him soon afterwards and got medical assistance. I think at the time Ross thought he could keep it under control by taking lots of mineral supplements and avoiding playing in hot climes but this mustn't have been the case.

So close a defeat like that must be pretty hard to take, still good to see alex entering more doubles nowadays and ross making atp cuts.

Alex is 2nd on grandstand court so it will be around 9pm tonight i would imagine.

James is 2nd in line for a lucky loser and they has already been 1 withdrawel so he only needs 1 more more to make the main draw.
