i just checked the wta website and you get 1 point for turning up. yet the same week as this anne keothavong is doing a 25k when she would have made tha main draw!!
sorry missed this out. MARGOT CARTER got in she isnt even ranked and has no points she faces a russian first round and gets a point for just being there.
the cut off mark for main draw was 370. lots of our brit girl woul have got in includingmel naomi exc.
Bad news unfortunately. Anna lost 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 in the 2nd qualies round to a French girl ranked 1100ish
Clay just doesn't suit her at all. Hopefully she'll return and play the British 10Ks as she has quite a few pts to defend in August. If she can defend most of them, she should make top 400 by the end of the year, definately has the game to do well in the indoor season.
Who coaches Anna out of interest ? Is she based in a squad somewhere ? Do you think the dry patch is due to still trying to find her form after that injury ? Her scheduling does seem pretty bizarre though....this was a good choice of tourney with regards to the field strength but it's on clay !
she trains at sutton and is coached by a frnchman there eric something? others she trains with such as deb armstrong, lucy warburton, jess jackson, carly homewood, beki fong. lots of top players come and train there every now and again including petra who is bout 160 and cavaday occasionally goes also. i do think this slump is due to her injury as i think wud have been a downer missing wimbledon as she surely wud have got qualies wild card
