Just to let you guys know - I intend to attend the Manchester Challenger this week. I will be there on Sunday Qualifying, Tuesday's session and the Saturday and Sunday finals. If anyone would like updates, PM me and I will give you my mobile and get yours and keep people up-to-date
(1)Lars Burgsmuller (GER) vs Christopher Hooshyar (GBR) Tim Bradshaw (GBR) vs Andrew Gillett (GBR) Andrew Gillett (GBR) vs Nick Ames (GBR) Ryan Horgan (GBR) vs (6)Philipp Marx (GER) (2)Tomislav Peric (CRO) vs Travis Rettenmair (USA) Gregory Howe (AUS) vs Matt Brown (GBR) Jonathan Kinsella (GBR) vs Francis Hazelwood (GBR) Dimitrios Loucareas (GRE) vs (7)Olivier Charroin (FRA) (3)Pierre-Ludovic Duclos (CAN) vs Philip Whalley (GBR) Ryan Crampton (GBR) vs Ken Skupski (GBR) Jamie Delgado (GBR) vs Peter Murray (GBR) Chris Harfield (GBR) vs (8)Ian Flanagan (GBR) (4)Riccardo Ghedin (ITA) vs Seb Jackson (GBR) Neal Skupski (GBR) vs Ryan Stotland (ISV) Mustafa Ghouse (IND) vs Scott Dickson (GBR) Charles Crisp (GBR) vs (5)Luke Bourgeois (AUS)
Cox isn't there, so he should be one of the wild cards. Jim May isn't there either. Maybe Ward has one?

Yes I got Rob's number. I'll try find out who got the wildcards
This Andrew Gillett guy must be good. He faces Tim Bradshaw and Nick Ames in the first round. It's quite possible we could have an "all-Andrew Gillett" final qualifying round.
Is there 2 guys called Andrew Gillett in the draw? I can only see one guy called that on the ITF site, but he could be making a debut. Or is it a mistake by someone?

Skupski bt Crampton 6-0 6-0 - he only lost 3 points in the whole of the first set! Duclos narrowly beat an impressive Whalley 6-3 6-3 Charroin bt Loucareas 6-1 6-0
Ok, just got back in from rainy Didsbury! Some good games on show. Got the draw: A Jones (1) vs D Cox Qualifier vs M Ryderstedt J Sirianni vs Qualifier C Niland vs R Bloomfield (8) S Stadler (3) vs Qualifier J Huta Galung vs G Dyce R Junaid vs J Vacek I Zelenay vs G Lugassey (6) P Wessels (5) vs J Goodall A Coelho vs H Levy P Petzschner vs Qualifier T Oger vs A Dupuis (4) R Bopanna (7) vs L Childs D Meffert vs J Ward A Feeney vs L Uebel D Evans vs A Qureshi (2)
Not the greatest of draws there for the Brits.
Also speaking to few guys there and front desk, if the weather emains as it is, then the majority of the games will be played indoors rather than on the grass. The final will definitely play on grass and if need be go onto the Monday. After seeing the water swept off grass when leaving, I would put good money on the 1st round being indoors
Quick review of some of the games for everyone: T Bradshaw (GBR) vs A Gillett (GBR): 6-0 6-1 - I missed this game as it had just finished when I got there D Cottier (GBR) vs N Ames (GBR): 6-4 6-1 - Ames had lost his cool in the second and Cottier's more match practise showed. Dan could have finished the game off quicker though. Needs some coaching, but could be good player. Got fit G/F!!!! L Burgsmuller (Ger) vs C Hooshyar (GBR): 6-2 6-0 - The score does not reflect the game as Hooshyar played really well. Made some cracking shots. This was his first tournament and is a player at the club, so did really well against world no. 277. The umpire was very harsh on some calls for Chris. If the LTA can get him to some tournaments, Hooshyar will be a cracking player. R Horgan (GBR) vs P Marx (Ger): 3-6 2-6 - Again a harsh score. Ryan got broken right at end of 1st set, but should have been well up by then. Had plenty of chances to get Marx. Too many double faults and also his body language was poor. Spoke to his father and apparently only 18 and only 3rd tournament, so again can definitely improve, if can get over injuries. T Rettenmaier (USA) vs T Peric (Cro): 6-3 5-2 Ret - Hard to believe Travis has slipped to into the 1000's. Peric didnt look like a player at 444. Travis played well, but also played against line judges well. Peric wasnt injured, just think had enough! M Brown (GBR) vs G Howe (Aus): 7-6(4) 6-2 - Matt played well and got better as the game went on. Lots of breaks. Matt older than I thought. Was much slower match though than Horgan/Marx. J Kinsella (GBR) vs F Hazelwood (GBR): 6-1 6-0 - Poor Hazelwood! Really young lad, only looked about 14/15, and a bit like Jamie Murray!!! Got a good serve, but very rarely got it in 1st time. Big hitter, but Jonathan was far too strong. Kinsella seemed a really nice guy, only one to thank the ball boys. He looked the part and weird that he hasn't made an impact into game. O Charroin (Fra) vs D Loucareas (Gre): 6-1 6-0 - Weird as Loucareas warmed up with Kinsella before their games and he looked alright, but in the match was shocking!!! P Duclos (Can) vs P Whalley (GBR): 6-3 6-3 - Looked like we were going to see an upset here. Philip played really well and had some class. Broke Duclos twice in opening games, but couldnt take his own serve. Hit some great shots that got applause. Again, didnt look like he knew how to win, which was his downfall. Some experience he could be a great player. One of the best there today, and lost more than Duclos won as Duclos wasnt that good. K Skupski (GBR) vs R Crampton (GBR): 6-0 6-0 - Ah poor Ryan Crampton. I was expecting a fairly close game here, but wasnt to be. I think it was finished within 25mins!!! 1st set Ryan only got 3 points!!! Ken was a different class. How come this guy is only just on the circuit!!!! I know he's been doing Liverpool but he should fly through the rankings. Ryan is built like Nadal by the way!!!! J Delgado (GBR) vs P Murray (GBR): 6-1 6-1 - Jamie played very well. He was rusty at first, probably due to not playing singles for while. Peter actually played ok in the first few games and it looked like Jamie was going to struggle to break him down. But class came through and he had too much for Peter. I Flanagan (GBR) vs C Harfield (GBR): 6-4 6-2 - Flan the man looked alright. Harfield played some good shots, but I got the impression he thought more of himself than he actually is. He turned up late, took time and looked around like he was the big player. Came out with some bizarre shouts too! Haha! Flan should have won it sooner, but did enough. Will need to up his game for next round.
All-in-all was good day. Had to leave before the last few matches. Got speaking to Jeff Lomas' dad if anyone can remember him. Also saw Dan Cox and Graeme Dyce wandering around - Dan is a lot smaller than what I thought!!! The guy has clearly got talent, but hope his height isnt his downfall
