Week 29 - Futures F12 (M) - Frinton

Hopefully Kasiri can make a dent in this draw, good to see his ranking creeping up again. He was the guy who lost to Monfils in the final at junior Wimby a couple of years back wasn't he?

Yeah that was Kasiri back in 2004, he's had a rough couple of years with bad injuries, particularly with his shoulder plus falling out with the LTA. However, he seems back on track now which is great, he's one of the most talented British guys out there, hopefully he will crack top 500 by the end of the year which is his goal..and then push on from there

More results:

David Rice actually beat Alex Sadecky 4-6, 6-2, 6-2...fantastic result for Rice as Sadecky is a big serving, serve-volleyer who had some good results on the astroturf in Ireland last month

Neil Bamford bt David Brewer 6-4, 5-7, 6-3....did expect that as Bamford has such a good grass game

Ed Allinson bt Brydan Klein 6-4, 6-4....amazing result for Allinson against the AO junior champ who's ranked 778.

Miles Kasiri bt Smethurst 6-2, 6-3

Alex Miotto beat Eliott Wronski (qualifier) 6-2, 6-4

Ianuzzi bt Slabba 6-2, 6-2 furious.gif What happened there ? cry.gif I thought this was a shoe-in for Slabba given recent results and Ianuzzi is 100 places lower.

Rob Searle bt Ed Corrie 6-1, 3-6, 6-3.... Good win for Searle who has a lot to defend having made semis in Frinton last yr

Sorry about the mistake but I'm still certain the woman told me that Rice lost

yeah she did, and she told me that at first but then someone came in and corrected her....she'd misread the scorecard

hopefully similar thing has happened with the Slabba match pray.gif

I was wondering where the good news was hiding and here it is. Great results for Milton, Rice, and Allinson I guess this means the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned back on. biggrin

Some great results there...except the Slabba one cry.gif (are we 100% sure it's right yet?)

Who're the opponents waiting to be slautered by the Brits next? (well maybe biggrin.gif)

Here's how the foreigners line up in the slaughterhouse!

Neil Bamford (GBR)
vs (1)Daniel King-Turner (NZL)
(WC)David Rice (GBR) vs (q)Jeremy Blandin (FRA)
(q)Edward Allinson (GBR) vs (3)Divij Sharan (IND)
(WC)Joshua Milton (GBR) vs (5)Samuel Groth (AUS)
Miles Kasiri (GBR) vs (6)Simon Rea (NZL)
(q)Alex Miotto (GBR) vs (4)Julien Maes (FRA)
(8)Tom Rushby (GBR) vs Enrico Iannuzzi (ITA)
Robert Searle (GBR) vs (2)Guillermo Alcaide (ESP)

1 Brit / 1 Foreigner in each draw.

Thanks, so we can reasonably expect a full house of Brits in the quarter-finals then wink.gif

Good luck to them all, Rice and Rushby look to have the best chances of getting through but I think Kasiri and Searle should also hope to do well. Good luck to one and all. smile.gif

Yep.  I think 8 Brit quarterfinalists would be pretty good! biggrin

If you look at the France Futures going on at the moment, it's actually quite likely that all 8 quarterfinalists will be french.

Good luck to them all! (The Brits that is, not the French)

I'm going for Bammy, Rushby, Kasiri wins.

Not so good today so far...

Neil Bamford (GBR) lost to (1)Daniel King-Turner (NZL) 4 & 4
(WC)David Rice (GBR) lost to (q)Jeremy Blandin (FRA) 1 & 4
(q)Edward Allinson (GBR) lost to (3)Divij Sharan (IND) 4-6 7-6(3) 6-3
(WC)Joshua Milton (GBR) lost to (5)Samuel Groth (AUS) 4-6 6-1 6-2
Miles Kasiri (GBR) lost to (6)Simon Rea (NZL) 1 & 4
(q)Alex Miotto (GBR) lost to (4)Julien Maes (FRA) 2 & 4

So far all 6 Brits lost...only two sets won. Cred only to Ed for stretching the 3rd seed.

On court at the moment...

(8)Tom Rushby (GBR) vs Enrico Iannuzzi (ITA)
Robert Searle (GBR) vs (2)Guillermo Alcaide (ESP)

Yeah great effort from Milton, Groth beat Dycey 3 and 3 last week and is top 500...

imo, the only really disappointing result there are Kasiri's and Ricey's...Dyce beat Rea last week so I thought Kasiri would have a decent shot. Having said that, Rea is inside top 500 and has made 3 futures finals this year. Blandin seems to have found form from nowhere this week, yet to drop a set, knocked out the 7th seed in rd1.

King-Turner is the defending champion here and has a very good record against Brits so I didn't expect Bammy to have much of a chance

Rushby made the final in Frinton last year, he should beat Ianuzzi. Hopefully all the pts he and Searle have to defend will give extra motivation
