Week 28 - Newport ATP

So our Number 1 player has not won a match in 3 months having been injured for most of that time...our Number 2 player is a shadow of his former self and seems unwilling to lower himself to play some lower level tournements to start winning again...our Number 3 player seems unable to make the most of his talents and keeps falling short of the Top 100

And that is pretty much it..Depressing.

Need Baker to come good (although having seen him play a couple of times I'm not sure he has enough to break Top 100 either)

Our number one player is 20 years old and has already broken into the top 10, beaten the world number one and reached the second week of three grand slams, and the semi- finals of a Masters Series.

Our number 2 player, former world number 4 has, rather than retire, declared that he wants to keep playing and has rejoined teh Davis Cup squad

Our top doubles player has won the first Grand Slam title for Britain in 20 years, has won three ATP titles and broken into the world top 30

One of our top Juniors has won the Aussie Open doubles.

Wow - What an amazing time for British Mens Tennis!!

I think Jamie Murrays been the one real bright point this year but if we are happy with winning mixed doubles and junior doubles titles that is depressing in itself!

Just need Andy back and winning match's to cheer me up!

Agreed. I have seen Baker play quite a few times aswell and its fair to say they is more chance of robert dee winning a match than jamie reaching the top 100

thats quite harsh!

i think we should give JB a little more time. as we know he works his arse of so it may just click for him at some point.

i also dont think grass is jamies best surafce. remember he seemd to do much better on hard courts in amercia, somaybe he will start to pick up again soon.

of course breaking the top 100 is tough, as boggo is showing us, but i think it may be too soon to write jamie off totaly.

cheer up seagul, footy season starting soon as well.

how do u think ur lads will fare?
for my lot it will depend on our 1? scoundrel of a chairman and 2) our manager actually learning how to make subsitituions - hes got all his coaching badges now, surely they teach that there??

top half will be nice, i dont want to worry about relegation at any stage, playoff maybe a bit unrealsitic as i think it will be a strong league. Do you think you will go back up this season?

ignore boggo's result yesterday, he reached the qf's of wimby, maybe could have won, but mel got tight (couldnt see them beating J&J anyway but it would have been top to watch!!) just remember back to queens he was 2 pts from beating roddick and the world was good. o and he has no real points to defend till after the uso now i think.

AM will be back soon, fresh for the hard court swing, JM will hopefully be picking up where he left off and contiune to stride up the dubs rankings too.

Disappointing result from Boggo.
All those points to defend.
He's so close to the top 100 that he
can't afford to slip up now or he will
surely drop back again.

Nice to see Booty playing with Ross Hutchins.
They won 1st round as well.
Well done lads.

yeah disappointment from boggo - seems that jsut when you think he's about to deliver, he messes up! guess its a sign of our increased expectation with him though.

nice win by hutchins, hopefully he can secure that place in the top 100! and maybe delgado will manage to get back up there too.

lots of doubles later - booty and hutch playing 2nd round match vs lipsky/martin - v winnable - before delgado plays his opener. boggo last match on centre, teaming up with spadea. could get a brit winner this week, field quite weak!

Where were you a few weeks ago when Jamie beat 2 top 100 players in the space of a week? Funnily enough, don't remember you posting during that period. Hmm, strange.

You're a funny one Jack. I don't think I've ever seen you post anything positive about anything and you only seem to pop up after a bad result. If tennis upsets you so much maybe you should find another sport

Cool...I still remember Brighton's FA Cup Final like it was yesterday.....we were at a friend's house in Bracknell, Berks going nuts as we really thought Brighton were going to beat Manure.....just seems like yesterday although I think it was 82 or 83. I can't keep up.
