I think if there's any question about him wanting a DC spot then it's very disappointing no matter who the captain is

john but you have to understand what Alex has gone through in the dc environment. The whole team turned on him when he lost to okun in isreal, instead of supporting him, then again he got seriously injured in the match v isreal was there any mnetion made to the press by Bates? just let alex take the flak.

As for Boggo - it was back to the bad old days. A very typical performance from the old Boggo which I thought he had got over this year. Really disappointing for a guy with his talent. Hopefully he has better luck in the doubles. He's still got to be in with a shout for the DC team.
Such a depressing loss for alex im gutted, can someone please remind me what we have to look forword to over the next couple of years with the exception of andy and jamie??? A bunch of top 200 players at best playing challengers everyweek and a group of tier 2/3 juniors thats all we have sounds brilliant , i dont mean to sound a pessimist but after results like today its hard to stay positive especially with the result coming only a couple of weeks after alex's heroics at queens .
i have heard that alex has hurt his back, i dont know how serious, although at the moment i dont think its too bad, could just be a case of over doing it, obviously he was working hard during and in the run up to wimby then rushing over to newport without a break maybe be taking its toll.
am not sure if he will play the doubles or not, but so far he hasnt pulled out.

This is going to sound weird, but I'm kinda hoping he was injured because better an injury (hopefully not a serioous one obviously) caused the third set capitulation as opposed to it being a brain cramp.
Hopefully it's not too bad and he can still play the doubles.
i am inclined to believe what i have heard, in the past alex has never used 'injury' excues to explain loses, even bad ones like todays, so dont see why this one should be different
