Sadly another retirement to report. From the BBC Sport website:

Curran quits after Wimbledon loss
Claire Curran suffered a second round defeat at Wimbledon Belfast's Claire Curran retired from top-level tennis after losing her mixed doubles second round match at Wimbledon on Tuesday.

Curran and fellow British player James Auckland were beaten 7-5 6-2 by the number 12 seeds, Australian Todd Perry and Chia-Jung Chuang of Chinese Taipei.

Hip problems and a failure to make the latter stages of events led Curran to make her decision to quit.

"I've lived and breathed the game for 20 years so it's a bit sad," she said.

The 29-year-old won 12 ITF double titles in her six-year professional career and played in 22 Federation Cup ties.

Her days on court may be over but she is determined to make an impact on the game.

She added: "It's not the way I wanted it to end - I wanted to finish on centre court on Sunday but it's not to be.

"When you come to Wimbledon you have to aspire to get as far as possible so I'm disappointed to lose in the second round.

"My hips have been a problem throughout my career. I have been lucky to get three to four years out of them.

"It's time to put my energies into other things. Maybe contunuing with tennis and one day being part of trying to turn British tennis around.

"I have to be realistic - if I continue to play tennis I want to get into the latter stages of the tournament and I didn't do that."
