An all brit final and i missed it, d'oh!!!! Sounds like a good one as well, if Booray keep serving like that then they can be real contenders for wimbly and Goodins showed they can perform on the big stage too!
Well done to Booty and Stretch! I'm glad it was close, Goodall and Hutchins can take a lot from that into Wimbledon and hopefully that gives Goodall added confidence in the singles as well
[...] That said, even reaching the final will've done their combined ranking a power of good (just checked: 175 points for B&S, 120 for G&H! )! Well done, both pairs! Anyone bothered to work out yet what effect it will have?
With this win Jamie moves up to WR33 and Eric to WR38.
See the report on bt.net
Thanks, I have, but what about Goody & Hutch - & what about the respective pairs' combined rankings (i.e. in the so-called "Race" - or am I getting )?
In the race, for Booty and Stretch, it'll move them up one place to 13th (I think, not sure what others nearby have done though) and with regards to Goodall and Hutchins it'll give them 24 points which isn't enough to get into the top50 so they won't appear on the race table (which seems to only show the top50 as far as I can tell).
In terms of Goodall and Hutchins individual rankings it'll move them to 114 and 97 in the doubles respectively (Hutchins also overtakes Delgado as Brit no 3), see GC77's thread in the Entry rankings forum for more detail (or his table on BT.net in the rankings section).
Hope that answers your question

By the way, combined rankings is something slightly different. the Combined ranking of a pair is the two individual rankings of each half added together (so on Monday Booty and Stretch will have a combined ranking of 33+38=71). This is the ranking which players use to get into tournaments (seedings are then based on the race position i believe - it's a complicated thing doubles!).
Just to confuse you further, a pair's combined ranking is actually their best rankings added together, so Jamie and Andy Murray have a combined ranking of 31+8 and not 31+131 (or whatever Andy's doubles ranking is). This is how top singles players are able to randomly turn up in doubles draws and why Aucks and Huss failed to make the cut for Queens because all the singles players wanted to play and used their higher rankings in singles to push those two out
Hope that a) makes sense and b) I've got it right!!

Again, yes it does - & goes a long way to explaining why Jamie was so keen to take advantage of Little Bruv's ranking, rather than play with Booty, to get into ATP tournaments earlier in the year on the US circuit...
...and just to add a little further info, whilst a player's singles ranking can be used to enter doubles tournaments (as with andy's ranking), seedings at doubles tournaments are purely based on the combined doubles rankings!
so if federer and nadal played together in doubles, they wouldn't get seeded (quite rightly, imho!)
