WIMBLEDON PICK 'EM and Battle of the Boards + options re Andy w/d

Thanks FD, I've got that entry now. smile.gif

Also I have the changed entries for everyone who's posted here, i can't say individuals as there's too many so please don't ask me!

We currently have 147 entrants and only 15 of them are from here cry.gif (having said that I know at least 4 players who have played for us in the past but have now reverted to their original boards). My point is we need more players!! It doesn't matter if you've never posted on here before/if you can't predict for toffee/if you choose all the Brits (that's you Arka) join in and have some fun! smile.gif

Just a thought that has crossed my mind about the robots... is there a robot which picks based on position in the champions race?

If not, then I can fill out an entry for it if people think it is a good idea to have in the competition

I've got three robots plus my own picks to do, so if anyone wants there to be a Billy the Bookie robot for this pick 'em (a suggestion someone had when I asked for new robots), please can you do his picks. (if you're going to, please post here first so that nobody duplicates your work!)

How to do it:

Use the normal entry form, and at the bottom, put
Billy (*)
as the name, pick Robot from the gender list and don't worry about the other fields down there, even if error messages say you should.

To pick the R1 matches, go to

http://odds.bestbetting.com/tennis/wimbledon/mens-matches/

change the odds to decimal by clicking the little 2.75 against odds format and then go through the R1 matches assuming Billy would pick the player with the lower odds to win.

If the odds are equal, go for the higher-ranked player (see http://stevegtennis.com/rankings/2007/s061807.htm)

For later rounds (or if any R1 matches are no shown), go to http://odds.bestbetting.com/tennis/wimbledon/men's-winner and for each match-up pick the player with the lower bookmaker odds to win - again, look at the rankings if odds are equal.

Thanks in advance! smile

If no-one else is currently doing it then I'll do one for Billy the Bookie in a couple of minutes

Have you done your TFF yet? wink

I think so... well, I did it earlier today so it should have registered it as being done. I used the same username as here so it should be recognizable as me

Thanks very much for doing the Billy one biggrin, if you want to do a champions race based one, that's fine too, we've got a space
how about Racy (*) as a name?

The (*)s just avoid us having to add one in later - it refers to the robots footnote on the results page

I'm using rankings from the Monday before the tournament, as usual, even though the deadline is actually on Monday. But you must be doing that too, so that's fine.

I've started having a go at it, so it should be done within 10 minutes or so, although I don't think Racy is going to do very well with the amount of clay courters that seem to be winning matches, plus every Brit ends up losing in round 1

The race is bound to be a bit clay court biased at the moment.

The ATP have already posted the rankings and the race for next week, so that is what I was using (didn't actually notice until half way through, so I could use last weeks if you want me to)

Racy will be like the anti-Womble (womble follows the Wimby seeding formula, Racy ignores grass completely)

Oh have they? Let's both use the up to date ones this time then, I haven't done much on the rankings-related bots yet.

Racy has sent in her entry... and if Chela, Robredo and Davydenko all reach the Wimbledon quarter finals, then I think that she will end up as the winner

Thanks for these FD, it's really helpful. I've got Racy now so she's(??) counted...we now have 156 entries (including 2 robots)

I used the new rankings, as I had started off using them (to be honest, I don't think there would be much in the way of change if I had used the old rankings)
