Thanks for finishing that match off Christian, it was raining so hard here (about 10 miles away) that I thought there was no chance they'd get back on tonight, so I didn't bother to look,. Fantastic performance by Lee thankfully I think he gets a rest day before playing a 5-set FQR match.
Edit: scrap that, he's scheduled to play again tomorrow, I guess they must be worried about losing all the play on one of the next two days to rain and not taking any chances.
Oh well, he effectively played a 5-set match today, to at least he's used to it!

Lee is 3rd match on Court 13 (not before 2pm) whilst Ian Flanagan and Tom Rushby are third on court 11 for their qualifying doubles (full oop for relevant courts is on the parallel thread in the womens' section
QR2: (WC) Jim May WR 972 lost to Sam Warburg (USA) WR 206 by 3 & 4 QR2: (WC) Lee Childs WR 404 beat Pavol Cervenak (SVK) WR 268 by 6-3 4-6 12-10 QR2: (WC) Chris Eaton WR 775 lost to (q14) Mischa Zverev (GER) WR 129 by 7-6(5) 6-2
This was Cervenak's first-ever tournament on grass, though he did well to knock out Kubot in his QR1 match, and I thought Lee had a chance, but what a match! Lee took the 1st set and lost the 2nd after being a break up before edging a marathon 3rd set, keeping his cool after they had to go off for rain at 8-8 30-30*. It was a good match to win, because both of the seeds in this section went down in QR1!
Jim couldn't quite make it past Warburg, but who would have believed he'd even get a WC here a few weeks ago when he was down to his last ranking point! Chris did well to hold Zverev for so long in the 1st set and even had a 5-2 lead in the tiebreak, but was unable to hold onto it.
QR3: (WC) Lee Childs WR 404 v Marco Crugnola (ITA) WR 270
Just like Cervenak, Crugnola is playing his first-ever tournament on grass and has probably had the easiest route of anyone to get this far. His last two matches against Brits were a win against Josh in Wrexham earlier this year followed by a loss to him in Jersey. He has played a lot of Brits over the years, generally beating those ranked below Lee and losing to those ranked above him, which is not that conclusive! He did manage to take a set off Andy Murray in an Italian Future 2 years ago, which is probably just as irrelevant now!
Lee will probably never have a better chance to qualify for Wimby, that's for sure.

That's very strange - Josh definitely took 4 sets to win his FQR match last year.
It seems a bit odd that they're playing 3 FQR matches today and all the rest tomorrow - perhaps the umpire thought the Fleishman match was a QR2 match and the players didn't know any better!

It always used to be best of 5, and everyone was expecting it to be best of 5.... still, I guess Zach Fleishman won't mind as it means it is 1 less set that he has to play, unless he is forced to come out tomorrow and finish the match
Lee is 4-1 up in the 3rd at the moment, so he is potentially 2 games away from qualifiyng, although I guess we'll find out what happens at the end of this set (Rochus/Arthurs is in the third as well, so that could finish first)
