ATP - The Nottingham Open

Goodall holds to love....

then G/H get themselves 4 break points.... number 1 is saved off a second serve, number 2 is saved.... but they take the 3rd break point!!!

G/h lead *6-5 in the second.... hopefully Hutchins can take us to a super tie break

G/H hold to 30, to win the second set 7-5.... it's super tie break time, so hopefully they've learnt from Bootie and Murray

G/H *1-0 minbreak straight away!
*1-1 and they give it straight back.... its a boggo/henman tie break
2-1*
2-2*
*2-3 Grosjean holds both points, and his serve is the one they are more likely to break
*3-3
4-3* Huchins holds both points, so it is the stronger servers who are losing so far... that was a second serve as well, only the 9th they've won in the whole matc
4-4*
*4-5
*5-5
6-5* ace from Goodall, which is what you want in a TB
6-6* chance on the Grosjean second serve
*7-6 this time the chance on the 2nd serve is taken
*7-7 but again they give it straight back
7-8* Ross loses both points on serve
8-8* but they get the mini break back again... off the Clement first serve which has hardly lost a point all match
*9-8 and they break again... MP to the Brits
*9-9 saved.... this is definately a Boggo/Henman esque TB...
10-9* ace from Goodall... should have done that last point though... 2nd MP
10-10*
*10-11 MP to the Frenchies
*11-11
12-11* 3rd MP... take this one
12-12*
*12-13 2nd MP to the Frenchies
*13-13
14-13* 4th MP.... and 3rd ace of the TB for Goodall
14-14* saved off a second serve
*15-14 5th MP... this one on Ross's serve
*15-15 DF from Hutchins.... learning from Boggo here it seems
16-15* 6th MP

GSM Goodall/Hutchins 2-6, 7-5, 17-15 after saving 2 match points

Great win for them, and a semi final here is a good showing, although they will have to improve if they want to get close to Erlich/Ram, especially on the second serve where they only won 36% of the points, and only 10% in the first set

Still, semi final here is a great result, and keeping up the tradition of the Brits being great in the doubles

Jason and Ross won 17-15 in the super tie-break. Wow what a match. That super tie0break was half a set in itself.

Congratulations to the doubles boys, and as for Tim - ah well, disappointing but frankly expected.

At least by my missing the match my cushions were safe from being chewed.

Or hopefully they will take on Josh and Ross in the final....

Only thing about facing Erlich/Ram may be that it may not be too much of an indicator about Wimbledon as they are currently playing on indoor hard (the courts that are used for the winter challenger), and if it continues to rain then the final will be played there as well
