ATP - The Nottingham Open

The live score doesn't usually work until the 2nd qualifying round which is irritating as by then most of the Brits are out cry.gif

Where's Ricey in that draw ?

Didn't realise Evo's opponent was top 300...oops, that's pretty tricky then....I guess that Salamanca is a clay-courter so hopefully Evo has a chance of making it close

Will be interesting to see how Dyce gets on against Jamie Baker. Jamie will win but hopefully it'll be reasonably close...Dyce is still working his way back to his best form, he hasn't had that many matches since he returned from injury in May. In the future he's got the potential to do well on fast surfaces, he's a really big guy..well over 6ft and has a massive serve. Like many lower ranked players, he need to work on being more aggressive with his groundstrokes and on moving forward up the court

Jamie is v unlucky with his draw, I'd have backed him to qualify in any other section but he's got Chris Guccione, the giant Aussie with a virtually unreturnable serve...Guccione made the final of Adelaide earlier this year. It'll take one heck of a performance from Jamie to beat him

Cox's draw is ok for an ATP qualies...this is a v weak qualifying field. However, it could be a difficult match for Dan, Obama is a good player on fast surfaces - he's beaten Chris Eaton and Jim May this year indoors...both of whom have done well on the grass over the past fortnight. He also took a set off Lee Childs in April. Results over the past week suggest that Cox is yet to find his feet on the grass..

Nottingham courts are faster than Queens btw, more like how Wimbledon used to be before they slowed it down

Looks like bottom quarter will be between Goodall and Marray....I'd pick Goodall to come through that

From Jez on MTF....

Well, I can't see there being ANY play today in all honesty. I live 10 minutes away and the rain is steady. Everywhere is awash.

This tourney has "disaster" written all over it at the moment

I'm not far from Nottingham, and it's been clear here for the past half hour or so.

Mhmm, maybe then it's getting better with time?

I guess that they'll move indoors.

Maybe, but I'm not as close as 10 mins away though (more like 30 mins), so it could be easily be raining in Nottingham but clear here.

thats one of the best r1 draws boggo could have hoped for, but 2nd round would be a tough one. however, if he plays like he did this week, then he has a chance of making the quarters, and hopefully coming up against tim! would also say that the surface suits him a bit better in notts than queens.

a win both here and wimbledon may see boggo sneak into the top 100, for a week at least!

i don't think its a terrible draw for bloomers - bjorkman is starting to feel his age with the singles i think, though has pedigree at notts so would still be the favourite.

shame the qualies are moving indoors - bit unnecessary i think this early in the week - still got 2 full days and could always stretch into monday - but there you go!

yeah i think its meant to be pretty dry, but there may just be the 4 final q matches, all played at the same time. not quite sure though, depends how many matches are played today i guess!

may still be worth going along to if theres brit interest i reckon, which i'm certain there will be!

Boggo has a good chance to win a couple of rounds I think. Grosjean would be more difficult than Hrbaty on grass i think but after his performance at Queens I don't think he should fear either of them (I'm in an optimistic mood smile.gif)

Tim should get that W against Russell but I'd be surprised if he then went on to beat Tursunov who is in the semis at Queens and finding his form again.

Bloomers hasn't been quite as unlucky with his draw this week but he'll still need to bring his best to win I think, hopefully he can.
