Wimbledon Qualifying Wild Card Playoffs 2007.

I'm still quite shocked that Pritchard beat Dan Cox.

Good to see Dyce going far. Hope he gets a WC!

Yeah, right:

Umpire: "Mr Dyce leads two games to one, third set"
Phone: "Ring Ring"
Delgado: "Hello? Hi Tom, yeah the kid's pretty good - not finished yet"
Phone: "If you don't get your ass over here now and give me the only chance I've ever had to play the Bryans, I'll kick you in the guts so hard you'll miss the US Open"
Delgado: "Sorry Mr Umpire - got to go. Well done Graham. Bye!      Taxi!"

I don't know what medication Mr Delgado takes for stomach upsets, but I've got to find out. What a recovery! smile

Would it have taken too much organisation between LTA and Queens to ensure the 2 match's could not clash??

haha, just loving that Rob rofl.gifrofl.gifrofl.gif

Was a great effort from Graeme as Delgado is a class act on grass, I really thought he'd win in straights....Graeme has the potential to do really well on fast surfaces though as his game is based around a huge serve and forehand combo...with more consistency as he improves, those will become formidable weapons.

I hope he can get past Bammy today, would be great for Graeme to get that qualifying wc...however, Bamford has a lot of experience on grass and his game is really well suited to it so it will be tough

Cox seems to have been somehow outhit in both his matches...maybe he just hasn't been able to get used to the grass yet...he can't have had that much practise as he arrived back from RG at the end of last week and then a day later he had Childs at Queens. Pritchard is a decent player, beat Evans in the U18 nationals last year and has had some good wins in futures qualies.

What's next for Cox, Nottingham qualies ?

Gutted about Slabba...missed opportunities there, he must have had match pts...Illingworth has been a real bogeyman this year, beat Slabba in a British tour final 6-3, 7-6  a few months ago but Alex had like 15 bps and didn't convert any.

Still, it could work out for the best as if he'd got thru I'd have backed him to beat Rushby and then he'd have been in Wimbledon qualies....now he'll be playing a 15K in Ireland with a fairly weak field and better chance to get some pts

This has to be a contender for the optimistic self delusion of the year prize!

There is no good side to missing out on wimby qualies surely, he can enter 15K futures every week for the rest of his life. So disappointed at the people Slabba's now losing too. cry

Great effort bY Graham Dyce, absolutely right about Delgy immensely tough to beat on grass.

lol, I'm just desperately trying to find some positives in that loss....what I meant was that if he played wimby qualies he'd almost certainly lose in rd1 while in the Ireland 15K, he is capable of reaching semis or further if he takes his chances and plays his best...

15 I think....(though not 100% on this) and that would be massive for any of those 4 as it's the equivalent of making a 10K final

However, it's unlikely that any will win a round as they'll be competing against top 250 opposition...Jim May probably has the best chance...

Bamford is the only one to have played Wimby qualies before, he did so in 2005.

Shame Eaton didn't make it through, Irwin is a serve-volleyer and so his game suits grass more I guess but looking at the big picture, Eaton is a better prospect
