So only Graeme Dyce makes it through from the young guns...
I'm surprised at Rice, Cox, Evans and Childs losing...I thought at least 3 of them would win...guess they still haven't got fully used to the grass, a week ago they were on the clay
Also, the courts at Roehampton where the playoffs are held, are really, really bad....the bounces are terrible, it's a bit like the ATP in Newport. You just can't afford to play from the baseline, you have to serve-volley which is why guys like Jim May will have a huge advantage
wow, fabulous win for Dycey !! He must have saved multiple match pts there
Hope Delgy is ok tho
I was hoping Kasiri would win but I had a feeling May would come through given how difficult it is to play baseline tennis on the grass courts in Roehampton. What a few weeks it's been for him
Delgy is fine, he's on court with Hutch against the Bryans at Queens. Either he gave up on the wc match after losing a frustratingly close 2nd set or maybe time was against him and he had to dash back to Queens?
Nice result for Dyce though May in the form of his life!
"A sense of exasperation was not confined to this corner of West London yesterday. The initial draw for the LTA mens play-off for four spots into Wimbledon qualifying had to be scrapped after it came up five names short and in the wake of the redraw, a New Zealander was found in the list of 32 and hastily erased because the process was conceived exclusively for British players. Matt Smith was included in the first draw until he was found to be playing in India and Miles Kasiri, the 2004 junior finalist at Wimbledon, was in the second, although he is also in the draw for an ITF tournament in Norway this week."
