Main Draw R1

(3)Vivek Shokeen (IND) vs (q)Andrew Fitzpatrick (GBR)
Matthew Smith (GBR) vs (6)Myles Blake (GBR)
Robert Searle (GBR) d. (7)Vijay Kannan (IND) 7-6(3) 1-1 ret.

Lucky break for Searle. Seeded opponent withdrawing and all.

Blake vs Smith will be a nice judge of Blake's emergence but its a pity they had to meet early. Having said that, rankings wise, neither can complain at their draw.

Fitzy may be on a roll but to draw 3rd seed is pretty harsh

That's a brilliant win for Fitzpatrick.  Yang reached the Semi-Finals last week, beating Matt Smith 6-1 6-0 on the way!  clap.gif

1st Round

(LL)Tsung-Hua Yang (TPE) d. (q)Andrew Fitzpatrick (GBR) 6-1 6-2
cry [Yang replaces Shokeen]
Matthew Smith (GBR) d. (LL)Vignesh Perna (IND) 6-4 6-3 biggrin[Perna replaces Blakecry

Yang gets a rematch against Fitzpatrick, and annihilates him.

And Myles Blake
withdraws again.  But, Matt Smith takes advantage of his lucky loser.

No, David, the surface is very much hard.

You have a weird obsession with cow dung, I must say.

lol, it's nothing to do with a weird obsession...just that you guys use it as a surface biggrin.gif I was told by one of the players that the tournament here is held on dung....of course the ITF list it as hard not dung because (a) that's what the Indians officially call it, it's a hard court made from dung...here we have hard courts made from tarmac but ITF call them hard (b) they probably wouldn't get many entering if they knew it was on dung biggrin.gif

Why can't you accept that some tourneys over there are held on dung confused.gif

Your player was surely speaking rubbish, because that stadium just has hard and grass courts.

And I've seen the courts.

And where have I said that Futures aren't played on dung?

It's just that whenever there's a Futures played in India, you pop out of nowhere and say "this is played on dung". rofl.gif It makes me laugh more than annoying me, actually.
