Does that mean Henman/Hewitt doubles is postponed too or just coz of Safin???
Rain Suspends Play
Marat Safin and Sebastien Grosjean were locked in a tense battle on Centre Court as rain fell late in the evening at The Queen's Club on Wednesday.
Safin was serving with the scores level at 4-4, deuce in the final set when rain suspended play for the day at just after 7.30 local time.
Grosjean, a two-time finalist at the Artois Championships, took the opening set 6-3, but Safin levelled by taking the second 6-4. Grosjean had led 4-2 in the final set.
Three other doubles matches, including Tim Henman and Lleyton Hewitt against Frantisek Cermak and Leos Friedl, were also suspended for the day.
Noticed Evans and Ward warming up duringthe last set of Slabba's match so meandered over there via a bit of Star Spotting on the practice courts. Henman and Roddick were being replaced by Ljubicic, looked like Ancic, Mirnyi and some other eastern european looking blokes!
Hilton, Parmar, Davidson, Eaton, Rushby and Atkinson were all watching Evans vs Ward. Didn't look like a great match to be honest and I was slightly disappointed in Ward having championed him on here in the past. (that all changed later vs Vemic though!) Evans just looked tiny, and was not impressed with himself.
Got a bit bored so went to find another match. Sa was whipping Bozo on court one with very little effort. Bozo seemed to take in in good sppirit though and when Sa launched a ball in the air after clinching match point Bozo ran over and caught it in his pocket Bahrami style like!
Went back to Court 6 having expected Ward to have won but Evans had taken the second set. Watched the 3rd set. Ward was much more solid now. Evo had a good hard talk at himself about double faulting on the first point of nearly all his service games. Sadly the trend continued. Ward stepped it up a bit showing an ability to come to net if needed as well. Think it was 6-1. My other reflection on Evans and I'm not slagging him off coz I know he's read the board is that he needed to believe in his own ideas and abilities a bit more. He kept looking over at Hilton before and after every point and there's not much Hilton can do at that stage other than pump his fist and look encouraging. YOu can do it Dan. Concentrate on the next point!
Bit of a lull whilst R1 completed before R2 started. Was watching Muller Bopanna which was just a serve-fest when a fella in a blue tennis shirt arrived on Court 10. Thought i'd go and watch that match and discovered it was "GrassCourt god - Jim May!! How long does your opponent have to keep you waiting on court before he is defaulted? I ask because May arrived at Court 10 at least 10-15 minutes before Kuznetsov which really got my goat. Jim was such a gentle man though. Started off really well, not just a big serve and good english volleys but some powerful ground strokes as well. He looked odds on to take the first set easily but Kuzzy dug in with some big serving and took it to a tiebreak. There was only one winner throughout at it was Jimbo! 7-6 eyes light up! Knowing he'd beaten Querrey at Surbiton I was very excited about what May could do here.
May's level definitely dropped second set. Kuznetsov was the more solid player and never looked in danger without running away with it.
Monfils, PHM, Fish, Ginepri, Delic and ToJo were warming up behind me which was sometimes more interesting than the second set I have to admit.
