Found out some info this evening on why so few Brits get wcs here...
Basically that this is not actually an LTA tournament. The tournament is owned by Octagon, a management company. They therefore have the biggest say in WCs, hence they give them to players who are on their books. This has always been the case & all the British players kind of accept this. They usually give 1 WC to the LTA out of good will rather than necessity
Still annoyed by this? Well, then, maybe a bit of direct action is called for! You'll see what I mean if you can bring yourself to read all the way to the end ...
The WC meeting at a certain British ATP event
Those silly old farts Eat their blueberry tarts Then they break GB hearts When the haggling starts
They hand out their wild cards To Cilic and Poo "Wot, wild cards for our boys? Not that motley crew!"
A kick in the teeth, then? Of course lads, what's new! But they'll give one to Dee ... if he slips them a few
So let's get together And tell them we're blue Chanting "Give one to Marray, (*) "You know you want to!"
(*) or Baker or Goodall, etc - chant for your favourite!
Before I get sued, I realise lines 11 and 12 are complete rubbish but in my defence m'lud, a) I needed something to rhyme with new and b) it's the bit that made my partner in (pick 'em) crime laugh the most! Bethan is responsible for the blueberry tarts too - I think she means that's what they eat at their meetings!
As an added bonus, anyone taking up this idea is likely to feature in the BBC coverage ... as the apparently deranged person getting dragged away by security.
Well, do you have a better idea?

Just seen on Queens website that they've already given 2 wildcards to Andreev and Cilic. How do they qualify for a wildcard already?????
Looking back on last few years and very rarely given to Brits. If Hutchins etc want to have 12 British players in top 50 in world, how can we get players with ATP tour experience. If you look at all ATP events across the world, the majority of WC are given to home players.
As was correctly said elsewhere, Queens is not run by the LTA but by the Queens Club.
The tournament's number 1 responsibility is to make money, hence they will give wild cards to people who they think will add to ticket sales.
As Queens is a 48 man draw they have 5 WC's to give out, what I find ridiculous is that neither Cilic nor Andreev are going to affect ticket sales in my view, maybe Poo would, but I would rather watch the Brits than young Croats, so seem to have gone wide of the mark.
I think the remaining three Wc's will go to Boggo, Bloomers and Baker.
I would rather watch the Brits than young Croats, so seem to have gone wide of the mark.
Clearly they are being sporting and allowing the Croats some extra practice on grass, ready for the DC tie. They wouldn't want it to be a GB walk-over now would they?
who would you have given it to then Jack? I think Baker deserves the wildcard and hope he can make the most of it. I wish there had been another one for Goodall though, I'm glad I didn't have to decide between the two

You don't seem to like Jamie very much Jack. I'm delighted Jamie has this wildcard. Hopefully he'll get a decent draw.

I'm really pleased that these 3 have the wildcards...in previous years only 2 Brits have received wildcards, good to see 3 getting them this year !
All have made massive strides over past 12 months and thoroughly deserve them, all 3 have reached career highs over the past year...
With regards to Jamie getting one, I can see where Jack is coming from as lots of reports have suggested that he doesn't really have a big weapon and he isn't the most natural of grass court players. However, I think he deserves it as he's starting to get the results at challenger level now, has some excellent series of wins in the USA earlier this year plus picked up a 15K title...he beat Bozoljac very comfortably (1 and 3 I think) and Bozo has been close to top 100. He's got a great attitude to the game, makes the most of what he's got, fantastic work ethic and he's improving all the time as he moves up the rankings....look at Nicolay Davydenko, when he first came on the scene, people said he doesn't have a big shot and the 2nd serve was a bit dodgy but he's made slam semis at the US Open and Roland Garros and reached no 3 in the world !
I think he edged it over Josh as although Josh had some amazing results from July-Dec last year, he's been poor this year...yet to get a win in a challenger in 2007 and he lost to someone ranked 600ish about a month ago. There's been signs over the past few weeks that he's starting to get it back together, lets hope he can build on that over the next month and gets a Wimbledon wc. He should have a shot at qualifying with a decent draw given his game on grass
Really pleased that Richard has one as he was really unlucky not to get one last year. Amazingly this is his first Queens wc
Who should get qualies wcs ? Iain Atkinson gets one for winning the juniors last year. Childs has to after this week's performances, Jim May too and also Kasiri....how many are there ? Would be interesting if Cox/Evans/Dyce got one
When will we find out about the qualies wild cards? If it starts tomorrow, I assume the draw comes out tonight. Is that corect? Will a draw and order of play be available tonight?
