Anyone thinking of queueing up for a ground pass in the first week?...I am thinking of turning up around 7AM if I go for it...will that be early enough these days (have not been for a few years)
I'm going to camp out on Friday night I think and try and get tickets for middle Saturday.

yeah if you turn up at 7 you'll def get a ground pass, maybe even offered tickets for court 2. i've always thought that the queue in the direction of wimbledon station is slightly shorter/quicker than the one in the direction of southfields but there's not too much difference!
day with the longest queues is the 2nd monday with all the 4th round matches being played on the same day, meaning loads of really top quality action on the outside courts then!
camping out is great fun - done that a couple of times too and once got on tv when camped out in the rain! then got tickets front row, opposite the umpire. awesome!
Hey goldenboy, is it worth getting a ground pass for middle Saturday. Much going on on the outside courts? Are they likely to schedule one of Andy's matches for that day if he's still in?

there's always top quality tennis on the outside courts basically up to and including 2nd monday - andy won't be on outside courts but there will be plenty of 3rd round singles matches then, along with some doubles. really good mix actually, and would be a great day to go.
have never been on middle sat myself but i know there are extra tickets available for the show courts. i also imagine its much busier queueing then, being the weekend!
andy got 50/50 chance of playing that day (weather permitting), so don't know if he'll be on, should be able to work it once the draw has been made! of course, not overly likely that he'll even be playing.
My daughter and I have tickets for Court 1 on Friday (as well as Centre on Monday!) so we are travelling overnight on Wednesday to queue for Thursday ground passes. Our respective buses don't get into Victoria until 6.20 so I hope between 7-7.30 is soon enough. . . We queued for the first Thursday a couple of years ago and I don't think we joined the queue until nearly 8 o'clock and got in.
If we don't get in I'm not sure how we fill in Thursday! See how early the hotel will take us on Thursday and watch on a tiny screen? Find a pub with a TV showing tennis and stay there all day?
7am should be fine for getting a ground pass, possibly even show court tickets as goldenboy said. My friend and I got centre court tickets on day 1 a couple of years ago after joining the queue at 8.30...though I think that was mostly down to luck as no one else in the queue thought there would be any chance of centre court tickets being left and so didn't bother to ask
If you want show court tickets for the 1st day you will generally have to camp out, otherwise you are pretty much guaranteed show court tickets (be it centre, court 1 or court 2) if you are in the queue before 7am. I think I've camped for each of the last 6 years now and nothing has really changed over the years!! The southern queue has been shorter every day of every year that I've been there. As sheddie has said it is possible to get centre court tickets without camping (although I've always found that camping adds to the whole experience!!) - my brother and I got so wet the first night we queued a couple of years ago (we didn't bother with a tent, just sleeping bags, black bags over the top and were hoping for overhanging trees - but it poured it down all night) that we stayed at a friend's house the 2nd night and taxied it in the next morning, getting to the queue just before 6am - we got the last centre court tickets for that day.
