Roberta - picks the higher-ranked player to win every match, based on the same rankings that the tournament uses for seeding purposes (i.e. Monday before the event)
KingKong - totally random, the mythical '1 million hairy gorillas'
Suggestions for two more for Wimby are:
Womble - like Roberta, but bases picks on Wimby seedings where appropriate, and hence represents the special Wimby seeding formula.
Billy (the bookie) - like Roberta, but bases picks on the pre-tournament odds to win Wimby that the bookies are offering on each player, or higher-ranked if the odds are the same.
I don't want to end up with more robots than players, but I don't mind one or two more if anyone has a good idea for an interesting one. The main conditions are:
- the 'formula' the bot uses must allow it to make its picks by the same entry deadline as everyone else
- it must pick a clear winner for each match, i.e. no ties!
Edit: betting bot's name changed to match Bethan's suggestion.

How about having Robert who picks all the lower ranked players? (or is it unneccessary because you just have to look at Roberta's score to see where Robert would be?)

In R1 it's as simple as that - this time Robert would have scored 21/64 - but in the later rounds, you can't just work it out from what Roberta scores.
That does make Robert an obvious choice as an extra Bot, but I'm not sure it's worth it - his score will be masses lower than the gorillas (e.g. in RG R1, it would have been 21/64, c.f. KK's 32 and worst human score of 33) and I think such a robot would already have run out of scoring possibilities in this tournament - maybe Brzezicki, I haven't checked.
The only chance he would ever be near another player (which is what makes the robots interesting) would be if that player was deliberately trying to score as low as possible.

Good point, I hadn't thought it that far through as you say it's only interesting if the robot is near another player so scrap that idea.

How about we add BritBot, who picks Brits to win every match they are involved in, or the higher-ranked player if both players are Brits or neither?
That would allow John to use his head rather than his heart if he wants to. I'm guessing he'd pick Andy to win whatever, but at Wimby there's a chance of going for 8 Brits in the QFs and ending up with half the score of King Kong, and annoying your team, i.e. you lot (assuming I can get a GRMB team together) into the bargain.
John - if you're intending to do that anyway, I won't bother with BritBot, but if you'd like to give yourself a better chance of doing reasonably well in the competition, then BritBot could represent your heart.
By the way, don't worry, nobody will be more delighted than me if BritBot wins and makes me look stupid!
