Bloomers's Live Ranking During week 21

The New table is posted here  (on britishtennis.net)

Very dull week on Richard's table:

Just Carlsen losing places from points defended.

No- one on the table is playing: waiting for Roland Garros Qualies.....

There are one or two off the bottom of the table who could overtake: It's the Uzbekistan Challenger season - a time to gain cheap ranking places, as demonstrated by Tipsarevic last year.

No one can overtake Bloomers for a while yet. If anyone gets within a couple of wins I'll let you know who they are, let's hope it doesn't get to that.

This time last year I watched in amazement as Janko Tipsarevic went from around 150 to 88 or so by turning up and winning three Challengers in Uzbekistan, where the rest of the fieldd would not have looked out of place in a 15K Futures.

Meanwhile all of his main competitors in teh rankings were slogging it out in Grand Slam qualifiers and super- Challengers in Europe

This year, the man in the Steppes is Yeu-Tzuoo Wang.  He's now reached the quarter finanls in the Fergana Challenger, not having to beat anyone ranked above 362 on the way there.

His remaining opponents are all qualifiers. The highest ranked among them is Antony Dupuis, ranked 566 furious.gif

.......anyhow, by reaching the semis, Wang just overtook Richard, knocking him back down to 189. Which is where he'll be in Monday's official rankings.

typical cry.gif even more frustratingly is that Wang only has RGrd1 points to defend in the next two weeks so he'll probably stay ahead of Bloomers, unless Richard has a cracker of a time at Surbiton.

jawdrop.gif So thats 2 qualifiers into the final then.

Checkov, the other finalist, had only 11 points before today. He's added 40 so far this week and will have 68 if he wins the qhole caboodle. Anyone recognise his name? Is he the next Russian prodigy?

Wang out. Richard will end the week at 189.

The Uzbekistan Circus moves onto Busan next week: Who can do a Tipsy this year?
