Nope, no such luck: Childs only went & lost to the Brazilian, Torres (1002!), 4-6 6-3 6-7(7)... Here's hoping young James can carry on carrying the flag in that quarter of the draw. His QF opponent will be Paris Gemouchidis (908), so he must be in with a chance...
(4)Tom Rushby (GBR)(656) vs (WC)Lefteris Alexiou (GRE)(unr but was 521 in May 2004)
(8)Chris Eaton (GBR)(807) vs Antal Van der Duim (NED) (554) (but has lost to Brits in last two tournaments! Eaton two weeks ago and Flanagan last week) Beat Chris in 2005 so H2H is 1-1
Paris Gemouchidis (GRE) vs (7)James Ward (GBR) 5-6(15-30) to finish
This was due to start at 10am local time (8am BST) on court 3 with Tom Rushby following. Chris Eaton is second on court 2 after the conclusion of another rain delayed match.
Ward will continue his QF match tomorrow currently a set up 6-3 and down a break 2-0 in the second. Its 40-30 to James but doesn't say who's serving so he has either a break or game point.

I've been taking an extra special interest in the lad's progress since I read this article in The Times last month. Thought one or two of you might also be interested in reading it... Good attitude!
Its a good article. Hopefully the LTA's new found involvement will help and not hinder.
It just seems a little odd that he hasn't played on clay since Bournemouth which is when they "got involved" and until Greece this year most of his points came on clay.
Maybe he's struggling to afford to stay at Equelite and needs to persuade LTA to fund him...
