Surbiton Trophy 2007.

Jim May WR 1522 v (q6) Riccardo Ghedin (ITA) WR 521

Jim won 6-3 in the third clap.gifclap.gif

So 2/3 Brits in the Final Qualies qualify and it was always going to be a big ask for Brewer to win.

Roddick and Ginepri sign in at Surbiton
World number three, Andy Roddick and doubles partner Robbie Ginepri have confirmed their entry in the 42,500 Surbiton Trophy tournament currently taking place at Surbiton Racket and Fitness Club in Surrey.

Roddick will play doubles only as he starts his serious preparations for Wimbledon under the watchful eye of coach Jimmy Connors.

Doubles Qualifying Draw

So the doubles lineup here is going to be 'interesting' to say the least - Not bad for a $50k challenger! Perhaps it needs to be upgraded next year?

poor Jim, that's the worst possible draw (obviously being the top seed) cry.gif

Do we know what Querrey's like on grass? Hopefully he's rubbish and hates the stuff more than clay.(though quite why he'd choose this challenger if that was the case cry.gif)

this is sam first outing on grass as far as i know. so could be a good time to play him. he has a huge serve tho, remeber he hammered boggo earlier this year. andni suspect that he will be an ok grass player.

Gonna be an awesome doubles tournament, strange as the singles is so much weaker than before!

Gonna post a full review of my day at Surbiton on the womens thread (as I was mostly watching the ladies on the show courts) however special mention to May who served superby throughout and saved several break points in set 3 (coming from 0-40 in one game)

Saw Boggo, Bloomers, Martin Lee, Felgate, Jo Durie, and Karlovic (as well as some tennis) and managed to eavesdrop on a few of the players discussions!!...more tomorrow...

Remarkably well written article. Proves that some AM.commers can write proper English after all!

Is anyone from here already doing scores from Surby tomorrow?

If not, Toby is going to be there to support Jonny Marray and he's offered to text scores from time to time.
