FQR: (q8) Jamie Delgado WR 587 v (q4) Aisam ul Haq Qureshi (PAK) WR 309

Day 1 of qualifying saw a shocker of a loss for Aucks on his return to singles play, but a great return to form by Jim May, who took advantage of the surface to beat a player ranked over 1200 places above him! (grin) Ben Pritchard did well to beat Booty, I think.

R1 Q2: Josh Goodall WR 225 v (4) Chris Guccione (AUS) WR 99
R1 Q2: Richard Bloomfield WR 189 v (WC) Sean Thornley WR 1348
R1 Q2: Alex Bogdanovic WR 112 v Alex Kuznetsov (USA) WR 169 (winner to play the winner of the match above)
R1 Q3: (WC) Tom Rushby WR 651 v (8) Santiago Giraldo (COL) WR 123
R1 Q3: Jamie Baker WR 252 v Jonny Marray WR 258 (winner to play the winner of the match above)
R1 Q3: (WC) Edward Corrie WR 1130 v Gilles Muller (LUX) WR 156
R1 Q4: (WC) Lee Childs WR 406 v Nathan Healey (AUS) WR 171

Terrible draw for Josh and at most one out of Boggo and Bloomers can reach the QFs too. :( Baker v Marray is not an ideal match-up either, though better for either of them than playing one of the top seeds. Whoever wins could have chances against clay-courter Giraldo - if Tom doesn't get him first! wink

On Monday, the FQR matches all take place at 11.00 BST, with the main draw starting on Tuesday.

Tough draw for Josh but apart from that not too bad, no-one got any of the first 3 seeds, looking forward to Jonny & Jamie.

Be very suprised if Lee Childs won or Rushby, think that the paucity of the LTA's depth on the mens side is shown by the people getting WC's but let's hope someone can take advantage.

I expect Delgy to qualify , an awesome grass court player, will be tough for Jim May, but would be great if he could do it, I thought he'd packed in to be honest.

Cant see Brewer getting unanything other than well beaten but will be good expeience and would be great if he could produce an upset.

Shame about Boggo and Bloomers but at least we should get 1 thru to the quarters.

tough decision looking at the OOP: Bally's return? or David (Brewer) vs Goliath or the Dlegy show........

After the first match, there's less of a dilemma.
