Surbiton Trophy 2007.

Ward is a direct entrant for a Futures in Spain that'll be played next week, so I don't think that he will want to play here.

The place where Ward trains has a grass court for its players (grass in Spain!!), so he may be decent on it.

Goodall is in even without Kunitsyn and Arthurs removed from the lists. w00t.gif That means Baker can get a direct entry and even Marray if he is lucky.

Main draw doesn't begin before Tueday, so Kunitsyn and Arthurs will probably need to win another round in doubles before they withdraw. Of course, they may decide to withdraw as it is.

Where did Booty say that Jamie wanted a Surbiton singles wc ?? Did you add him on msn ?

I don't think we should be giving wcs to doubles specialists tbh...even tho likes of Rushby, Flanagan aren't big prospects, they should be next in line...after Kasiri, Ward....maybe Tubba...if Aucks and Jamie want to play, they can go through qualies

Singles does not start until Tuesday but draw is on Sunday so they will have to withdraw

I don't think so as Kunitsyn plays his doubles match tomorrow. If he loses that he will probably play in Surbiton.

Jonny has ben told he's got a wildy, tho' by the sound of it he could even have got in if he hadnt!!

Mens main draw 1st round is on tuesday and wednesday, so there's plenty of time for people to get knocked out of Roland Garros and still ask for a wednesday draw.

Very glad to hear Jonny's got the wildcard. Do you know who the others have gone to or are they not yet decided?

He doesn't actually mention WC does he?

So perhaps he means he will do qualies!

Still no news on WCs or draw or OOP for tomorrow by the LTA.
Why are those responsible for the mens side of British tennis so lax?

They MUST have been decided because qualifying starts in 10-11 hours time, so they have to appoint WCs before making the draw (Which is also being kept secret of course).

They often give wild cards at qualies sign in deadlines. The organisers just look at who all have turned up and give them to those who deserve it most according to them.

Well, they do that at Futures and I am assuming it's the same at Challengers, which may not be the case.

I would hope that it is much more organised than that!

Anyway the rules state -
B. Qualifying1) Singles. The qualifying competition draw shall be made and the Order of Playannounced as soon as possible on the Friday night following the sign-in deadline.

So all I was trying to say , as WC will not be included in the quali draw they must already be known before Friday night!

By the way the rules for Main Draw are-

A. Main Draw1) Singles. The Tournament shall publicly make the singles draw no earlier than 12 noon
Eastern Time, USA, on Friday prior to the Monday of the Tournament week and nolater than 10 p.m. local time two (2) days before the first day's play, unless theTournament receives prior written permission from the ATP. The time and place of thedraw shall be determined by the Tournament

But it looks as if a WC (Who is not in qualifying) can be named later.
Singles.a) Wild Cards are players included in the main draw at the sole discretion of the
Tournament. Wild Cards must be named at the time the draw is made. Wild Cardsmay be seeded. Tournaments may not receive compensation and Players may notoffer compensation in exchange for the awarding of a wild card.

Anyway unless Jamie M is prepared to play singles regularly any WC should not be wasted and should go to a singles player who will benefit from it.

No, it was also written as more of a hope/plan than a definite thing: i.e. the kind of thing Bootie would write if Jamie told him that he was going to ask for a wildcard, rather than the kind of thing he would write if Jamie had been offered one.
