A mixed day in the doubles....seems a little harsh that both Childs and Ward would have to play both singles and doubles on the first day....unless these matches were played on Sunday......
Of all tyrannies a tyranny exercised for the good of its victim may be the most oppressive.... those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience
KASIRI, Miles 1111 vs MASHIACH, Almog (Q) (ISR) 1235 CAPONE, Massimo (ITA) 1092 vs RUSHBY, Tom [5] 651 VAN DER DUIM, Antal [3] (NED) 555 vs FLANAGAN, Ian 871 TORRES, Marcio (BRA) 1002 vs IRWIN, Richard 883 WARD, James [7] 767 vs AREVALO-GONZALEZ, Rafael (El Salvador) 852 GORITZKA, Soren (Q) (GER) UNR vs CHILDS, Lee [2] 434
Kasiri, Rushby, Irwin and Childs should win....though I'm a little concerned about Rushby, playing an Italian on slow hard.
Flanagan may have a chance against Van der Duim who's also a bit variable from match to match...Eaton took him out last win - v surprised that Irwin beat Eaton this week !
Bit worried about Ward as Arevalo is tricky on slow, bouncy courts cause of the huge topspin he gets. However, Ward is very solid and extremely fit, can stay out there all day long if necessary.
Brilliant rd1 win for Kasiri !!!! That'll take him back into the top 1000....he aims to be top 500 by the end of the year, definately an achievable goal...he's had some great results so far in 2007, beating a fair few top 700 players. Along with James Ward and Morgan Phillips, he's probably the Brit most likely to be next to break top 400
