It's again one of those tricky matches as although Mertl is ranked a lot lower than Alex at 188, he relishes clay. Mertl's had a pretty good season so far, coming through a strong field to make the Sarajevo challenger final and he also made the semis of the Wroclaw 100K. However, his last few tournaments have left something to be desired with first round exits in Barletta, Saint Brieuc, Chiasso and Ostrava (last week).

Alex has played Prague once before, losing in rd1 back in 2004 to Jan Masik, also from the Czech Republic.

Looking through the draw, Alex should be able to make the quarters. Ecoman is on a 4 match losing streak on clay, though he did make Casablanca challenger quarters in April....his duties doubling as the Conservative's green superhero should also leave him too knackered for facing Boggo biggrin.gif

However, I can't see him getting past Zib/Mantilla/Hartfield in the quarters each of whom are potential winners.

I'm actually surprised Zib has taken a set off Mantilla....I watched Mantilla in Barcelona and he was impressive, gave Robredo a v close match

lol, I didn't like that piccy it's from Vegas and you've used it lots b4....we need ones of Boggo on the dirt for the clay season

yeah that's from Jan 2003 when he beat Todd Woodbridge in the DC tie biggrin.gif The only other ones we have from a clay-court tourney are from San Remo players party 2005 - no tennis pics, just one of Boggo admiring some guy's tan biggrin.gif

Slander!! i have never used that piccy b4, i only found it on getty this weekend!

i couldnt find one of jan mertl, if you do a google image serach on him colin flemming comes up 1st, i almost use that cause i didnt check :) i think it was one of yours from a forum somewhere.

hopefulyl prague will have some photos,

zib saves 3bps at 4-4!

yeah Fleming bt Mertl in 3 sets in Wimby qualies last yr

Prague have an excellent gallery so hoping for photos and some video clips...there shud be, after all Bogman is 8th seed

the match migth not have started yet, it was updating for me in the zib match, although sometimes was point jumps
