R2 = 4 points. +1 for qualifying I think. i.e. 5 so far.
If she wins, QF=7 points.

Apparently so...(from WTA world)

Elena BALTACHA (GBR) defeated Ayu-Fani DAMAYANTI (INA) (8) 64 57 62

Great stuff.

This will put Elena mid 600s I think. Another win would put her inside the top 600.

Ranking points are 1 4 7 12 17 25 (+1 for qualifying).

Elena has 10 points currently (rank 820 or so), and this tournie QF will make that 18 (c. low 600s). A SF place would put her on 23 and high 500s. A losing finalist 28 and low 500s, a win 36 and high 400s.

I think.

QF: BALTACHA, Elena (GBR) def LIU, Amber (USA) 6-4 6-2 (from WTA world).

A very good week for Elena-should be over 200 ranking places up! Here's hoping for a final and another 40/50 places.

no results yet

This one will be trickier as Ye-Ra Lee has made semis and quarters of 25Ks in Australia this year...however Anna Smith beat her 6-2, 6-4 in Wellington and Lee's career high is only 308. If Elena plays anywhere near her best she should go through in straights.

However, 6 matches so far this week...wonder if tiredness might be an issue for Elena...though having said that only the rd2 match has been close.

Alas....

Ye-Ra LEE (KOR) defeated Elena BALTACHA (GBR) 64 36 75

Close. A good week for Elena. A rise of >200 ranking places acheived.
