It's depressing to see the number of Brits we now have at Challenger level. Last year we had - Bogdanovic, Bloomfield, Martin Lee, Mackin, Marray, Goodall, Parmar, Baker and Auckland, plus Col Fleming, Matt Smith and Delgado every now and then. .........................
Not forgetting also - Dave Sherwood and Mark Hilton
The LTA will nominate 8 Brits for wildcards so Mackin would almost certaintly have been nominated....now wc nominations will go to Boggo, Bloomfield, Goodall, Baker and Marray + 3 more which could go to anyone !
However, the downside is that the all England club selects which of those nominated players they think deserve wcs most, so it's almost certain that only those 5 above will get wcs and the other 3 will go to foreigners Expect likes of Scud, Cilic and Haase to get them
Mackin won a number of futures and satellite titles, he never made a challenger final but reached a number of quarters and semis on grass, clay, indoor hard and carpet. He beat Rafael Nadal on clay back in 2002 and throughout his career he's beaten players like Wayne Arthurs, Nicholas Mahut, Igor Kunitsyn, Boris Pashanski, Evgeny Korolev, Marin Cilic, Stefan Koubek and Chris Guccione, all of whom have been in the top 100.
Well it's true as long as my source has got it right !
Great news for britishtennis.net as it means that the site is read by both the Herald and the Evening Times !!! Woohoo ! Rob Robertson of the Herald has blatantly got his info from the article I wrote on britishtennis.net...compare the two, he wouldn't have known otherwise that Mackin had beaten Nadal or that he'd told friends he was tired of the travelling. LOL.
I guess this is down to Drew as he gave fliers to all the press at the DC...great to know that the site is read by the journos !
this shows the power of the net, lets face it we could put a story up saying boggo has retired, mention it on MTF and then the whole world would pick it up :)

Yeah but if you did that they would stop trusting the site....lol....I think it speaks of the power of sites like this....the people are passionate about their tennis they report it and the journalists realize that we are doing their work for them. Fan power on display. If only the Beeb site would check here before posting blantant mistakes!
