LTA performance coach Luke Milligan told britishtennis.net "It was a very good win for Josh Milton. His game suits clay well but forgetting the surface, it was a very mature performance from him today. In the 2nd set, he was a break up, then went a break down but recovered to get the break back again. He struck a really good balance with his play, waiting for the opportunities to attack with his forehand. The other guy wasn't really hurting Josh off his backhand so Josh traded backhands cross-court, waiting for the chance to run round and hit a big forehand.
It was difficult for the players today as the matches started outside but they were on and off with rain delays and eventually it went indoors.
I think James Ward will have a good chance of doing well this week. He was very unlucky in Bournemouth, drew the eventual winner in rd1. James is very fit and well drilled on the clay. I've watched him several times in junior tournaments at the Equelite academy in Valencia where he trains, he practises a lot with Juan Carlos Ferrero and Guillermo Garcia-Lopez over there. He possibly could do with being a bit more aggressive but he's ideally suited to the clay as he's so solid from the back and makes people work for every single point.
wow !! Great start from da Coxy boy, Panda will be thrilled. will be his best ever win I think if he finishes this off....Pellerin is the 8th seed and ranked 487 ! He beat Simon Childs 4 and 4 last week, Kasiri beat him in 3 sets in February.
what is Goodall doing tho His opponent's ranked 600ish and has lost 5 straight matches ! How on earth has he lost the first set 6-1, lets hope he can turn things around big time.
Evans score is kinda expected, Prodon won a set 6-1 v De Bakker last week
