Marcus Willis (GBR) vs. Matthew Ward (GBR) (2)Olivier Charroin (FRA) vs. (10)Matthew Illingworth (GBR) (3)Brydan Klein (AUS) vs. (14)Daniel Evans (GBR) (4)Ian Flanagan (GBR) vs. (9)Adolfo Gomez-Pinter (ESP) (5)Deniss Pavlovs (LAT) vs. Ben Pritchard (GBR) Alexander Farquharson (GBR) vs. James Feaver (GBR) (7)Daniel Cox (GBR) vs. (15)Sean Thornley (GBR) (8)Konstantinos Kalaitzis (GBR) vs. (12)Boris Obama
Golden opportunity for Willis to qualify for a Futures for the first time ever. Ward had not won a round at Futures qualies previously, so Marcus should be the favourite.
Evans has a very tough match in his hands against the current Australian Open Junior Champion. Clay is Klein's weakest surface, though.
Thornley shouldn't be underestimated at all. He beat Cox the last time they played - a three setter in the semfinals of the G5 in Sutton last year. And he can play on clay as he beat a sick Slabinsky on the same grounds last year, plus beat the current Junior world number 3, Fernando Romboli in Argentina last year.
Feaver likes clay courts and is in form, so he should beat Farquharson.
Pavlovs beat Pritchard a few days ago on the same courts Obama is way better than what his ranking suggests, unfortunately. Charroin may be French but doesn't seem to be very good on clay.
Pritchard some pretty impressive wins there. And I'm shocked that Rice double bagelled Llewellyn, very good result that and he went down fighting in second round.

good set of results there and as has been said 3 guarenteed qualifiers. Hopefully at least one more as well (I'll be disappointed if not). Nice to see James Ward being given a wildcard here and in Edinburgh. I'm not sure who that other one will go to though, guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Some amazing results in the qualies ! Wow @ Willis beating Matt Smith 4 and 2 ! That's a big breakthrough win for him, career best by some distance..maybe Pritchard gave him some tips from last week ! Matt Ward's 19, think he's going to become a tennis coach after the summer...has lost in straights to Allinson and Graeme Hood recently...two easy matches against other Brits so far...Willis should be able to take him and qualify
As Panda says, although they lost, great performances from Pauffley, Milton and Rice. Must have been only a few pts in it for all of them. Charroin is top 900 and made the semis of a futures earlier this year so impressive that Pauffley pushed him so close, especially on clay which would favour Charroin more. Illingworth's been putting in some good performances over the past month, picking up some pts...I think he could spring an upset.
Evans did well to get past Smethurst, that wasn't an easy match..Smethurst beat Cox in November. Really tough draw against Klein who had that success down under, plus he qualified for a challenger in March, beating Bubka and Sjisling ! He's ranked 869, Matt Smith did beat him 3 and 1 recently tho. Judging by the rd2 results it should be very close, if Milton can push him like that then Evans should definately be in with a chance.
No surprises with Pritchard taking out Allinson who relies a lot on his serve and doesn't move well enough for clay. Rematch of the British tour semis now against Pavlovs I think the Latvian might just be too strong again
Fascinating match between Cox and Thornley...given it's clay I think Cox will just sneak it...what does Panda reckon ?
I think we'll get 4 Brit qualifiers...Flanagan's up against a Spaniard which is ominous, Illingworth might cause an upset but that one's very much in the balance, really tough one for Evans and Opama will be big fav v Kalaitzis
Evans thrashing Smethurst wasn't a big surprise, though. Smethurst isn't anywhere near his indoor hard self on slower surfaces. He struggled badly in Tunisia last month.
I think that Cox will be the slight favourite for that. Although Thornley is capable of taking it.
Dyce sent me an email yesterday. He's still out in Florida atm, definately not playing Bournemouth. He might come back for Edinburgh, he's not sure, don't think he's been offered a wc...if he doesn't play Edinburgh then he'll be playing the junior tourneys in Italy leading up to RG
