hmm, very strange. I guess we'll find out the correct score when the ATP sheet gets updated but I fear it may be the second one cry.gif (Working on the basis that if I convince myself of that there's a possibility of a pleasant surprise)

Shame he lost again. Doesn't seem to be happening for him at the minute since he has been playing 50K's maybe he should concentrate on the futures again where he does get some wins. At least he should be fresh for Lanzarote. I saw him in the USA last year and since then have kept an eye on his progression.

I think that's a little harsh. He has played 5 challengers this year, and reached a final and a semi in those. The manner of the defeat to Lindahl in Valencia was disappointing but this was Jamie's first match on clay for a long time playing against a guy ranked higher than him who plays solely on clay!

Sending him back to the Futures circuit for that is a bit off lol.

dead right. He lost to a clay courter with a similar ranking who was more likely to be acclimatised to South America as well.

Interesting experience for him hopefully.

Of all our players Baker is one who gives the impression he really lerans form his losses and his disappointments.

Sign of good to come hopefully

You seem to suggest that Jamie Baker does not favour clay so why does one schedule a clay tournament in Brazil and the following week back to hard court tournament in Lanzarote? Dosent make sense to me.

I tihnk it was a speculative trip to see how he would fare on the clay. His game should be ok for clay but because he lost one match doesn't mean he should give up!

Also, anyone with serious ambitions for the top 100 needs to be able to play on clay. 3 Masters series and a Grand Slam are not to be sniffed at and I think Jamie realises that.

And then, of course there's the fact that this was the only challenger this week.
