there are two weeks of qualifying here and it starts on saturday sign in friday. 128 draw though will be tough, i think anna may scrape getting into main draw. there is a 25k after the two weeks with keothavong obrien exc.
i also think its wierd decision for fitzpatrik not to go for the 25k in europe as this is only a 10 and 128 draw she would easily get in the 25 as have a.smith
tara wigan lost as did holly flemming lucy warburton plays tomorrow against person who beat holly. good luck to lucy warburton cat stewert played today dont know result??
cat stewertl lost and ucy lost in round 2 to serbian girl 904wr, lucy she seems to be lacking that sparkle and short of belief. hopefully this will come soon and she can play up to the potential i saw at sutton 25k. on to next week for all those gbr girls who lost only anna f left in md tara could do with some wins to boost her confidence aswell must be hot there, hope cat, tara l and ucy can all get some positives from their matches
It's a tough draw as Buryachok is ranked 127 places higher at 466. She's been very consistent on the clay recently, reaching two 10K quarter-finals in the past few weeks.
Anna's coach Tony Hampson said "This will be the first time she has played on clay since training in Monte Carlo last October so it will certainly be a challenge, these are the kind of tournaments which are essential for Annas progress. The past month has seen her make a final and a quarters in the UK meaning her ranking will go up to the mid 500s so the improvement has been steady and in the right direction."
"This week was bolstered by the news that she has moved up into the main draw meaning that she doesnt need to win through four rounds of qualies (thats right, the draw is 128) just to get a crack at the points. I suppose it's just reward for her hard work over the past month and it certainly changes the outlook of this trip knowing that she is in both main draws. It can often be a daunting prospect for any player to come through a qualifying draw of that size so hopefully she can seize this opportunity and push to get some good results out here."
surely she must have been injured, I know it's clay and she's not played competitively on it for ages but even so, she's too classy a player to get virtually double bagelled by someone in the 400s
