no romina sceats in the end, anna smith might have got a wc or se into main draw somehow or withdraw because top seed in qualifying is 352 guess we will find out wen main draw starts!!
Excellent stuff from Kirsty, good to see her picking up some more wins after a bit of an indifferent start to 2007. She's played a lot of hard court tourneys this year with little success so maybe a change back to the clay has helped her.
The win over the 16th seed Arutynova yesterday was a great result as the Russian's 167 places higher.
Today....
QR3: K Woolley v O Poghosyan (Arm)
Great chance for Kirsty to qualify as Poghosyan's only ranked 1319 and got lucky when the 5th seed retired against her at 7-5, 1-0 down yesterday. Poghosyan has only won one 10K match in the past year.
Great to see her qualify, first time she's reached a 25K main draw. One of the worst possibly draws though, Rodina's one of the favourites for this. 18 year old Rodina (who comes from Moscow) is ranked nearly 700 places higher at 185 and reached a 25K final a couple of weeks ago. In 2006, she got to two more 25K finals and beat British no 4 Amanda Keen.
Unfortunately Kirsty's the only Brit in main draw. Amanda would have been seeded but withdrew
