Ward vs. Gensse.

Yes, I hope these players realise some of us care what happens to them! James is making a great match of it so far. In ranking terms though, for someone at his level, the difference between winning the 3rd set and losing it is HUGE.

What a great start to the deciding set!

Ward breaks immediately.

Final set, Gensse serving:

15-0
15-15
30-15
30-30
30-40 BP
Game

Ward 7-6 4-6 *1-0 Gensse

Ward gets off on the right foot in the final set and breaks.

Holding serve is the problem for both of them - this is the 5th consecutive break of serve.

2-0 ... though something tells me there are a few twists and turns still to come.

Lord, yes. At present he has 13 points - am I right in thinking that if he wins this match he gets another 15 points, but none if he loses?

Yes, that's right Madeline.

Relatively easy hold for Gensse, then 0-30 on James's serve, gets it back to 30-40 but break point down ... and Gensse gets the break back. cry

Uh oh - another twist as the break is recovered by Gensse.

What's coming next?

Gensse holds easily again - this set looks like going right down to the wire - neither seems to be able to get clear of the other for very long.
