"hey guys i just wanted to come on quickly and say thanks so much for your support, i have been up all night watching the live scores to see what was happening witht the haas match and i cant believe it, ive been working the last 5 years of my life to get here and it finally happened im in shock"
Of all tyrannies a tyranny exercised for the good of its victim may be the most oppressive.... those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience
If you want to get higher than top 10 you have to be making the latter stages of slams and/or finals or winning TMS events and winning a couple of optionals a year.
So it's a step up for him from where he is now. We'll see whether he's ready or not to make it.
The first time I saw Andy play was when he beat Andy Banks in 3 sets at the post-Wimbledon Nottingham Challenger in 2004. He lost in the next round to Tsonga in straight sets. At the time he was ranked in the low 500s, I believe.
To think that less than 3 years later he is in the top 10 is almost unimaginable.
All those hours I have been a nervous wreck watching a live scoreboard have been worth it. Let's hope he lasts as long as Tim did.
To get to the Top 5 he JUST has to continue this years form that has him at 3 in the Race.
And a single win in Monte Carlo would almost certainly see Andy move up to 9th ahead of Blake (neither Nalbandian or Berdych should win the tournament to prevent it happening), and if Ljubi loses his first round, Andy would jump to 8th, hot on the heals of his friend Nole (who could easily move ahead of Robredo to 6th this week).
So great for Andy - he really deserves to be there with the way he's played so far. His post on AM.com just made me feel very 'awww!' about the whole thing. It must be massive for him and to imagine him peering over a scoreboard like we do looking for the right result is very endearing for me.
Anyway - onwards and upwards from here with any luck now that the mental baggage of achieving one of your lifelong goals is out the way I guess.
