Jamie and Booty have drawn the top seeds again! Knowle/Aspelin should be beatable tho. both experienced doubles player, but don't recall them playing together before!
should be fascinating to see the transition to clay - a successful 6 weeks or so could well lead to a seeding at wimbledon!
good result, should be an even match. no-one stands out in the draw really - a good chance to earn some decent points if jamie can make the transition to clay!
That is a better draw....asked Jamie yesterday about him and Bootie playing on together and he said "...until the end of the year" Now he didnt say it in the manner of "til the end of the year and thats it" it was more of a "we will play throughout the year" I will try and catch him later.
Surely Murray/Butorac will be a long and (probably fruitful) partnership as long as they don't fall out along the way. I can imagine them being the new Bjorkman/Mirnyi combo in a couple of years once the elder statesmen retire....
Kohlmann: Now a veteran at 32, still at the top of the game though - currently ranked 29 in doubles and is playing some of the best tennis of his career. He made the singles top 100 back in 1998 before deciding to concentrate on doubles. He's just come from Belgium, where he partnered Alex Waske to beat the Rochus bros on clay in the DC, impressive win. He had a great start to 2007, making the semis of Chennai and winning Zagreb and Heilbronn. However, he's not done so well on the slower clay and hard courts, only winning a couple of matches in Feb and March. He did well on the clay last year, making the final of Casablanca and the semis of Munich. Also made the USO 4th round.
Lindstedt: Also a veteran now at the age of 30. Ranked 48, has a career best of 34. Made the quarters of Indian Wells, beating the Bryans ! Also made the semis of Adelaide and Zagreb in Jan. He and Simon Aspelin beat Aucks and Haggard 6-3, 6-3 in Memphis. He also had his best results on clay in 2006, making the Stuttgart final, semis of Munich and winning the Bermuda challenger.
