ATP Valencia 2007.

only 3 match points left to save

3-7* GSM to Gensse

after practically 3 hours of play - I expect fatigue was a factor towards the end.

thats v disappointing! alan really should have won- seldom get such a good chance of qualifying for an ATP. especially with a promising draw possible if qualifying! oh well!

absolutely gutted for Mackin.

I bet Gensse draws Ward and beats him now

Surely there must be a good chance of a lucky loser spot. Dont think many seeds higher than him lost, if any and I can see a few withdrawals this week especially for guys who had tough Davis Cup ties.

Bad luck for Alan.

But Andujar qualified. Hopefully it won't be him that Ward faces!

Lets see if Ward can teach Gensse the consequences of beating a Brit

Looking at Gensse and his past record he encountered a tough time against Alan Wright in a Spainish future September 2006 coming through 6-2 6-7 (2) 6-4.

Obviously he has improved since then, but James Ward is a tough cookie on the clay, and he couldn't have asked for a better opening ATP tour match.

Think he might have a decent chance smile although his opponent is French and normally that spells bad news for Brits!
Such a shame Morgan couldn't make this tournament cry

Dream draw for James in an ATP main draw. Just hope he can capitalise on his good luck!

I bet Alan's giving himself a damn good kicking now that he knows who the winner of his match is due to play! doh

On Tuesday, James is 3rd on Pista 1 at about 14.00 BST.

Very poor loss for Mackin, although I guess fitness cost him at the end of the match. Then, as he was a set and a break up at least once he shouldn't have needed to have a third set tie break

Would have been a good chance for him to make an ATP draw, and especially with Ward in round 1, it would have given him a good chance to gain a win
