Well done Tim...that could have been so different...Haase should have thought more...some of his tatics were crazy but he also pulled off some great winners !!!
Couldn't have asked for a better start to the tie, really - 6 sets played, 6 sets won.
I wonder if they'll field Andy and Jamie in the doubles now tomorrow in the hope of wrapping it up in 3 rubbers and then send Greg out in singles to take a dead rubber and make his farewell.
I'd be very surprised if Andy came in for the doubles given he said in his interview with Sue Barker that he was feeling pain in his groin from quite early in his match.
I reckon it will stay as Greg and Jamie M in the doubles and Andy won't be seen again in the tie if it goes to 3 - 0.
Greg could stilll also play a final singles match, although they might prefer to give Bloomfield and Baker the matches if it's 3 - 0.
I just heard them say in commentary that Greg and Jamie teaming up had not been a conspicuous success in practice this week, so I guess we'll have to see what they do - they still might have too much for the Dutch pairing. I guess it depends on whether Lloyd wants to push for a quick kill tomorrow or is prepared to let tomorrow pan out however it will and bank on getting the win on Sunday if need be.
Will post the Henman PC notes shortly but suffice to say I think that Tim is gunning to play dubs Saturday with Andy !!!!!
I asked them..or told them that it was a great opportunity for Jamie to play...Loyd and tim laughed but said that until he spoke to everyone the dubs pairing was up for grabs !
I hope Jamie gets to play - I understand they want to wrap up the tie early but surely it's better to have one of the singles players fresh in the offchance that the tie is still live come Sunday? There's no point boasting about it being the best team we've ever put out and then doing the same thing we had to do when it was a two man team.
I really want to see Andy and Jamie play, that leaves Tim versus Sluiter on Sunday if needed and Greg to play a dead rubber.
Friday morning, when I turned up i went onto the centre court and Jamie and Greg were playing dubs against Bloomers and Baker. Obviously seeing how things worked out. They must have been playing together in training and then they had them on the court practising together. Can't see them risking throwing together another random two team members.
Greg and Jamie play tomorrow IMO
