Hopefully that's not Jamie with a recurrence of his injury there. No offence meant to Zovko but I would rather it was him that retired injured

Fortunately it appears that it was Zovko who was injured.
Bethan, Delgado tore a muscle in his leg at the end of 2006/start of 2007 and that's why he's been out for 3 months. Must have been so frustrating as he was on the verge of reaching his holy grail, the top 100...really hope he can do it. Singles-wise, he got to 121 back in 2001, but from 2002 onwards his form pretty much nose-dived for some reason. It's a shame as he had the talent to be top 100 (similar to Parmar and Cowan), made an ATP quarter-final in 2000 and also reached consecutive 25K finals in the Manchester and Bristol challengers that year. He also qualified for several masters series and ATPs in 2000-2001 and from 1999-2006, he's won matches at Queens, Nottingham and Wimbledon a number of times, always seems to save his best for the grass.
Encouraging that he reached a final in his first tourney back, don't think he's got too much to defend until June so hopefully he can rack up some points over the next couple of months as in June there's loads coming off from Queens and Wimbledon. I wonder what he's going to do regarding doubles partners with Aucks now with Huss. Teaming up with Ross Hutchins for some challengers could be an option.

He doesn't hit the ball as hard as he used to on his serve and off the ground and that's why he's losing these sort of matches. The players in these futures are unfortunately starting to work him out and guys who move well and are just pretty consistent can now give him lots of problems. On really fast indoor carpet and grass he's still going to be a threat (nearly beat Dick Norman on French carpet last autumn) but on medium paced indoor acrylic like the courts in Bath, he's going to struggle.
I think the way forwards for him is doubles ! Johnny is a little harsh there, the USA have had more than 10 doubles specialists in the top 100 in the past, I'm sure other countries have. Childs could be a quality doubles player, if he played doubles regularly in 15Ks and challengers and found an upcoming regular partner, I'm sure he'd be top 200 by now. He can't really partner Delgado atm as Delgado's going to be playing mainly challengers and Lee isn't ranked high enough to make the cuts with him.
Good to see Irwin building on the success of the first Bath tourney Unfortunately it's going to be now mostly the nasty red stuff and slow hard courts till June which don't suit his game. However, here's hoping he can adapt, the wins he's had should give him lots of confidence.
Brilliant round 1 win for Rushby, I guess Elseneer must have been injured as he's a lot, lot better than his current ranking in the 500s...quality player on fast surfaces - massive serve and forehand. Shame about the rd2 loss but Rieschick is a former world junior no 1 !!! Just shows how tough it is at this level. Rushby has the potential to be top 400 and higher, from what I've heard he's plagued by inconsistency from one match to another (sometimes even 1 set to another !). There are signs though that he's starting to develop more consistency week in, week out.

Can you ever have enough players in the top 100? I want a hundred British guys in there.
I think that we could have 6 for sure in the next few years. Goodall, Hutchins and Delgado all have the potential to make it as does Jonny Marray who's a superb doubles player and had a great partnership with Martin Lee before he retired. Maybe Jonny could link up with Jamie on a regular basis, once he returns, I think they've played together in the past
Maybe he enjoys playing tennis. There's probaby a career that has more ini it than tennis for most guys outside probably the top 200.
